[Bug 39402] New: Mismatch between basket name length in HTML and database (+ the length could be bumped)
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 21 Mar '25

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=39402 Bug ID: 39402 Summary: Mismatch between basket name length in HTML and database (+ the length could be bumped) Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: trivial Priority: P5 - low Component: Acquisitions Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: schodkowy.omegi-0r(a)icloud.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org In HTML we have it limited to 80: <input type="text" name="basketname" id="basketname" size="40" maxlength="80" value="" required="required" class="focus required valid" aria-invalid="false"> but in database aqbasket.basketname is limited to 50 for some reason. This results in the user being able to input more characters and the last 30 characters will then be SILENTLY TRUNCATED. The max length of the value in database should be expanded to at least 80 to match up the HTML (potentially to even more?). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 39230] New: Why is there a limit on letter.title in database (of just 200 characters)?

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=39230 Bug ID: 39230 Summary: Why is there a limit on letter.title in database (of just 200 characters)? Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: 24.05 Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Notices Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: schodkowy.omegi-0r(a)icloud.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org So I wanted to specify subject of an e-mail in notice to: [[% AuthorisedValues.GetDescriptionByKohaField( kohafield => 'items.location', authorised_value => hold.item.location, opac => 1 ) %]] New hold placed ([% ItemTypes.GetDescription(hold.item.effective_itemtype) %]; [% Categories.GetName(borrower.categorycode) %]) But this got silently TRUNCATED. Turns out, "title" in database of "letter" table is a varchar(200), while the above title is 262. Can we just change the type to TEXT instead of VARCHAR(200)? That'd make it 65535 instead. I guess the limitation came from before TT templates were being allowed. Right now you can easily have a complex templated subject that'll end up getting transformed to a title that makes sense, so in our case above: "[Main Warehouse] New hold placed (Borrowable Books; Student)" -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. The only permissions that currently exist for staff are delete and edit. Delete public lists (delete_public_lists) Edit public lists contents (edit_public_list_contents) Edit public lists (Name, settings, and permissions, but not explicitly contents) (edit_public_lists) It would be beneficial to add a permission to "create public lists" ensure that staff just can't create unnecessary visible public lists. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
