The implementations are semantically identical (same fields, same indicator check, same normalization logic). This bug removes GetNormalizedUPC and migrates all callers to use either $biblio->normalized_upc or the extractor directly. The first is a JS alert asking if you want to update patron messaging settings. The 2nd is a modal popup aking if you want to update the patron date expiry. This isn't very good UX. This is because 'weight_search_submitted' is not initialized for this search. You get the same effect with this simple test: #!/usr/bin/perl use Modern::Perl; use Data::Dumper; say Dumper( { one => 1, two => &und } ); sub und { #return undef; } But if you uncomment 'return undef', there is no warning. So most probably, in this case, $cgi->param('weight_search_submitted') returns an empty list, not an undef.
