If you then edit the newly-created record and save it without making any changes, you'll find that the opac login has been auto-generated from the patron's name. Opac login should be autogenerated upon add AND edit, or in neither case. This may be related to the expandedSearchOption preference. If this option is set to OFF, the Boolean operators disappear in the staff client as well.
