Another option is to make it so that the submit button isn't selected so it just eats the return when the scanner sends it to the computer. It must be the barcode reader making the "beep." There is an enhancement request (Bug 1080) which suggests adding sound to the circ interface for valid submissions. But as it is there's no way to verify that the data has been sent to Koha without looking at the screen to confirm.
