This shouldn't happen all of the time. I can think of some libraries that don't want to refund this money because they used it to buy a replacement. I think it should be a preference. The returned file contains this error : Undefined subroutine &main::printpdf called at /home/koha/kohagit/acqui/basketgroup.pl line 275. The problem seems to happen because pdfformat::layout3pages doesn't load correctly on line 190 of basketgroup.pl. It's in an eval and the warnings are ignored. However, GetItemsInfo is a very heavy-weight subroutine, pulling in data from all over the database. This data includes a run of C4::Reserves::CheckReserves(), as well as pulling in the last three borrowers from old_issues. However as the server writes to stdout which is by default buffered this means that we cannot guarantee that responses are being returned in a timely fashion. In practice this can be perceived as extremely slow performance by the self-check unit or a cease of functioning altogether (the unit timesout). In practice reverting 5586 fixes this but as 5586 'does the right thing' this is not a good solution. The proposed solution is that autoflush is specifically set on the output filehandle, to ensure the response message is not buffered.
