When the item is returned, the charge for the item is removed from the patron's record. However, even if the Forgive Fines checkbox is checked, any overdues accrued on this item before it was marked as Long Overdue are NOT forgiven. The problem happens when searching from the quick search toolbar, not when you search from advanced search. Investigating, it seems it's because the sort_by is not defined in this case. It appears that is not the case. Fines for the item being late remain on the patron's account.
