For email or phone number, you could use an asterisk (*555-1212 or *.rainbow.net) wildcard character. In this feature, searching (212) 555-1212 and 212 555 1212 were NOT equivalent, you had to search for the phone number as entered, or truncated to just a part (like *1212*). Mickey suggests that we limit the search string to the last four digits (the most unique part of the phone number). In opposition to the solution with an additional Firefox (Portable) installation (see: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Using_Portable_Firefox_as_a_Koha_Client) this solution works with the standard Firefox installation (+ PlugIn jsPrintSetup) . jsPrintSetup e.g. allows to set printer, print silent, change header and footer, see: http://jsprintsetup.mozdev.org/ The overall concept is to have a new staff client preference where one can enter the necessary JavaScript. If this preference is empty, Koha falls back to te default behaviour. I did a proof of concept with the following steps: --Step 1 -------------------------- Add somewhere to staff_client.pref, e.g. near intranetstylesheet: ---------------------------------- - - "Use the following JavaScript for printing slips. It needs to do the following: - Calculate update date based on the upper age limit defined in the patron categories. - Allow libraries to work on all branches or only one. - Allow libraries to specify which patron category to update child categories to. - Allow libraries to specify a single Child patron category to update to an adult category.
