It would be better to have another field that tracks this status. If the status is null, the shelving location shows as usual. If it is not null, then it either can show the temporary location, or show the shelving location and the temporary location next to it in parenthesis (ie - Adult Fiction (Recently Returned)). The field could simply be a bit, either 1 and 0 or 1 and null. The superlibrarian should not have such a limitation. To test: 1) Set a patron category to be used by only 1 branch. 2) Logged in as a superlibrarian, have your library set to that branch. 3) Create a new patron. 4) Check that the limited category shows in the Category field. 5) Still logged in as the superlibrarian, change your library to another branch. 6) Create a new patron. 7) Confirm that you can no longer use that limited patron category in the Category field. We also have set up a user category LIBRARY (name=Library) which we use for administrative purposes. Users with category Library are assigned the category type of Staff. When staff with Delete_Anonymize_Patrons permissions try to delete a user with a Library category they receive the error: "Unable to delete staff user- insufficient privileges", but when they change the user category to one with a Adult category type (for example), they can delete the user. Superlibrarian can delete the user regardless of user category type. I tracked the issue down to the new MARC record not being initialized as UTF-8 encoded when being created from the web interface (=> TransformHtmlToMarc).
