Also, a record of which librarian cancelled the notice and date/time stamp would be very useful. Use Case: Item is discharged, hold is trapped, & notice is generated. Staff then realizes that the item is badly damaged and reverts the hold to obtain another copy. This can potentially cause a number of problems: * ILL requests deleted could be pending, in shipment etc. You will have no audit track if there are any problems with transport etc. * You won't be able to do reliable statistics on number of ILL requests etc. especially since adding a request is not even logged. This needs more consistency and a better reflection of the material type. Some examples: Projected medium = Film Language Material = Text Mixed materials = Mixed Materials Musical Sound Recording = Music Nonmusical Sound Recording = Sound Manuscript language Material = Text Notated Music = Score Some of these make sense, but others could cause confusion. For example the term Film could imply a motion picture or a 35mm film. Perhaps it would be better if the display replicated the text in space 6. It may be difficult to have better precision with the language because of the continual changing of the definitions over time. However, recently I've had cases where about half the patrons did not have email addresses in their accounts. This means that I either set everyone's preferences and the library has to go back and remove the preferences from the patrons without email addresses, or I don't do it, and the library has to set the preferences for those with email addresses. (I think I've had back-to-back cases like this because in their old system it was set up as if the patron has an email address, they get the email notices, and if they want to opt-out, they remove their email address from their account.) It would be great if the script could skip the patrons without email addresses.
