The systempreferences.value column is the only occurrence of this I found in the kohastructure.sql file. It seems Mysql will ignore the default null as long as the column allows null, so that's not an issue. Bug 40405 sets systempreferences.value to NOT NULL, but tries to also add a DEFAULT '', which causes Mysql to throw the above error. To reproduce: 1. Have SearchEngine set to Zebra. 2. When cataloging, go to field 650 and use the authority plugin. 3. In 'Search all headings:' or 'Search entire record:' start typing 'Computer software' and choose any hint (with subdivision). Note that the operator has changed to 'is exactly'. Perform the search. You should get no results, despite of the existence of the record. You only get the results after changing the operator to 'contains'. This is because of the construction of Match and Any indexes in Zebra. Users cannot subscribe to the feed using standard RSS readers or email clients. If there is little staff the holds might pile up and then patrons who actually went to the library cannot checkout those items. Some libraries prefer to give the first to the patrons who went actually to the physical library building instead of just reserved it online.
