These endpoints incorrectly use HTTP 201 Created, which implies a resource was durably created and is immediately addressable. Per HTTP semantics, endpoints that accept a request for asynchronous processing should return 202 Accepted with a Location header pointing to the job tracking endpoint (/api/v1/jobs/{job_id}). Affected endpoints: - POST /api/v1/erm/eholdings/local/titles/import_from_list (returns 201) - POST /api/v1/erm/eholdings/local/titles/import_from_kbart_file (returns 201) - POST /api/v1/cover_images/batch (fixed in bug 42404) This bug tracks: 1. A common method for testing file type is using magic numbers via the libmagic library. In Perl File::LibMagic provides Perl bindings to this C library, which makes it easy to check what kind of file we're working with (to a reasonable degree). libfile-libmagic-perl is available in Debian, so it should be an easy dependency to add. Similar to bug 40910 for Item->new(), the Patron constructor should validate input early and return gracefully without generating warnings for undefined/empty patron identifiers. Expected behavior: Silent return for invalid input, proper debug logging for troubleshooting Actual behavior: Warning spam in SIP server logs, potential DBIx::Class constraint errors This affects SIP server stability and makes log analysis difficult due to noise from invalid requests. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Additionally the case where the rule value is an empty string or undefined or no rule is found are not currently cached which results in the database is being queried repeatedly for cases where no results are found (which usually are the majority of calls). For example on the page where items are listed when placing a hold the current hit ratio for the cache in get_effective_rule_value is about 6%, with this patch we instead get a hit ratio of 99.8%, resulting in a whooping 340x less time spent performing the database lookup in get_effective_rule_value. With 150 items (we have serials with up to 1400 items), about 50% of the execution time is spent looking up rules which is practically reduced to zero when also caching empty results (and replacing the uncached direct calls to get_effective_rule with get_effective_rule_value). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
