[Bug 38933] New: Some oversized records with UTF-8 characters cause import worker to die
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 08 Jul '25

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=38933 Bug ID: 38933 Summary: Some oversized records with UTF-8 characters cause import worker to die Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P5 - low Component: MARC Bibliographic record staging/import Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: januszop(a)gmail.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org Some oversized records with UTF-8 characters cause import worker to die. The record would be staged correctly, but then an attempt to import it with C4::ImportBatch::BatchCommitRecords can generate an uncaught die of new_from_usmarc. A solution would be to make use of import_records.marcxml instead of import_records.marc for this step. (Both versions are stored in the import_records table in stage step). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 38913] New: Elasticsearch indexing explodes with oversized records
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 08 Jul '25

08 Jul '25

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=38913 Bug ID: 38913 Summary: Elasticsearch indexing explodes with oversized records Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P5 - low Component: Searching - Elasticsearch Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: januszop(a)gmail.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org Depends on: 38416 After Bug 38416 Elasticsearch indexing explodes with oversized records, especially with UTF encoded data. In Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearch::marc_records_to_documents a following snippet has been introduced: my $usmarc_record = $record->as_usmarc(); #NOTE: Try to round-trip the record to prove it will work for retrieval after searching my $decoded_usmarc_record = MARC::Record->new_from_usmarc($usmarc_record); But if $record is oversized (> 99999 bytes), it is OK for MARC::Record object, but not for $record->as_usmarc. The produced ISO 2709 string is not correct and hence cannot be properly converted back to MARC::Record object by new_from_usmarc. The result in this case can be like: UTF-8 "\x85" does not map to Unicode at /usr/share/perl5/MARC/File/Encode.pm line 35. Since it is done without any eval / try, the whole reindex procedure (for instance rebuild_elasticsearch.pl) is being randomly interrupted with no explanation. [Bug 40325] New: sanitize_records.pl can't find rebuild_zebra.pl

Now, reindexing using -b -v sh: 1: /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/misc/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl: not found Because it is on `/usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl`. Even if I change `<intranetdir>` on `koha-conf.xml`, `migration_tools` is not on `misc` but on `bin`. [Bug 40323] New: Show warning message for bibs without holdable items when AllowHoldPolicyOverride set AllowHoldPolicyOverride
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 07 Jul '25

07 Jul '25

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=40323 Bug ID: 40323 Summary: Show warning message for bibs without holdable items when AllowHoldPolicyOverride set AllowHoldPolicyOverride Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Hold requests Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: cj.lynce(a)westlakelibrary.org QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org CC: gmcharlt(a)gmail.com, lisette(a)bywatersolutions.com, tomascohen(a)gmail.com Koha should still display the warning message for bibs with no holdable items, when AllowHoldPolicyOverride is set to allow. When Syspref AllowHoldPolicyOverride is set to Don't Allow, a warning message is display when trying to place a hold on a bib with no holdable items (e.g. withdrawn, notforloan, lost, etc.). When AllowHoldPolicyOverride is set to Allow, no warning message is displayed. This is not consistent with other warning messages regarding holds, like the max holds per bib record, that still display as a warning to staff, even when AllowHoldPolicyOverride is set to allow. Until hold policy overriding can be more granular by Koha user privileges, these warning messages are important in letting staff know something is amiss, but still allowing hold policies to be overridden is appropriate circumstances. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. However, when checking in items through the offline circulation (desktop application) the lost fees remain on the patrons' accounts. We've been using the offline application extensively as part of our item quarantining process and now have a lot of lost charges on patron accounts for items that have been returned. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
