Other servers with the same search work fine. Trying the same search in MarcEdit's Z39.50 client, it comes out with the correct character. The servers in question are (and these are exactly the settings I have in my Koha installation): Australian National University host: library.anu.edu.au port: 210 databse: innopac syntax: USMARC encoding: MARC-8 and University of Melbourne host: cat.lib.unimelb.edu.au port: 210 databse: innopac syntax: USMARC encoding: MARC-8 Steps to reproduceː With the above servers added to Z39.50 Client Targets list: 1) Search for 'Francis Alys' in Title 2) Look down the list for title 'Francis Alÿs' by Author 'Medina, Cuauhtm̌oc' 3) See that there is a � character where there should be a ÿ Actual resultː Result from Australia National Uni - Koha: Francis Al�s / Medina, Cuauht�moc Expected Resultː Francis Alÿs / Medina, Cuauhtm̌oc Result from Aust National Uni - MarcEdit: Francis Alÿs / Medina, Cuauhtm̌oc Additional information: Attached are screenshots of 2 cases where the characters don't show properly (University of Melbourne and Australian National University), a shot of the same search with La Trobe University, which appears correctly, and a shot of the Australian National University search done (successfully) on MarcEdit's Z39.50 Client. Once I have done so, I cannot change it to anything else. I get an error message from the pref system that says I'm logged out and need to log back in. If I click a link, I'm brought to the login page. If I log back in and try to modify the preference, I will get another 'not logged in' message and will start the loop all over again. If I edit the db row directly and change the value back to an integer, everything goes back to normal. I can modify the pref as much as I want, as long as it is an integer. As soon as I use the 'd' option, everything goes haywire again. I noticed in the database, 'timeout' is set to 'Integer'. I tried changing it to 'free' but that did not make a difference. If I dump the value of $timeout in C4::Auth::checkauth, it appears to be correct, even when using the 'd' option, but I end up logged out every time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. It's the 1st time I saw this problem, I stopped & restarted plack, and it worked again smoothly. No idea why/what make this happen... The classic way to implement age restrictions is to make use of a lot of categories. This gets soon very complicated, and is not easily maintainable. The librarians need an easy way to maintain age restrictions per title, otherwise they will not accept Koha. I tried to find a robust ad easily configurable way to match age restriction against the borrower's age. I implemented it on my test server. The concept ----------- 1) Have information about age restriction in field 521 a (Target audience) The entry can be anywhere in the field. It reads like PEGI 3 or FSK 12 (or any other 'tag' + age). 2) Have a preference like 'AgeRestrictionTags' where such tags are defined. It is a text field with a list like PEGI,FSK,Age... (Make things robust by accepting ,;: and space as delimiters...) 3) In circulation.pm, sub CanBookBeIssued, fetch the value from 521 a using the tags above. If the text after such tag is numeric, take this value as $restrictionyear. Add the years to the borrower's birth date. If the resulting date is in the future ( >today) , issuing is blocked by setting $issuingimpossible{AGE_RESTRICTION} = $restrictionyear; 4) In circulation.tt, part , add: [% IF ( AGE_RESTRICTION ) %] <li>Age restriction [% AGE_RESTRICTION %]</li> [% END %] Result ------- If a borrower tries to check out a restricted book and does not have the appropriate age, the circulation module will block the check out and issue a message like "Age restriction 12" -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Instead of having a preference 'circpayfinesredirect' (as proposed in Bug 8058) I plan to expand the choices of 'CircAutoPrintQuickSlip' with two more options: "open a print quick slip window and clear the screen" (that's what I need to have) "open a print quick slip window and redirect to outstanding fines (if any)" (that's what Chris needs to have) The values can be evaluated in circulation.tt (near the comment '// listen submit to trigger qslip on empty checkout'). By changing it to defined 0, '0', and '' are included. However, this would mess up the SQL include a pointless 'like %%'. So, add in a length check and all should be good.
