When the cardnumber is required, it's possible to enter either spaces or non-printing characters into the cardnumber field and save the record. That is, there's nothing but whitespace. The value of cardnumber saved in the database in this case is NULL. It would be helpful if Koha verified that the cardnumber field contained something other than whitespace and prevented it from saving if it did not, when the cardnumber is required. However, it does add an extra click to the workflow for creating a basket. Previously, you could create a new basket right from the vendor search results page, but now you need to navigate to either the vendor record or the list of open baskets for that vendor first. It would be nice to add a "new basket" action button right in the table row for each vendor. Catalog search and patron search both have the ability to redirect to the record when a single result is returned - it would make sense to add this functionality to vendor search too! The only way I know how right now is to visit each record and add it to the list. There are a number of places where the option could be, but I would imagine it as an option on this page cgi-bin/koha/tools/manage-marc-import.pl?import_batch_id=XX maybe under the Undo import button. To recreate : 1. Import a MARC file 1.1. Go to Cataloging > Stage records for import 1.2. Choose a MARC file 1.3. Click "Upload file" 1.4. Click "Stage for import" 1.5. Click "View batch" 1.6. Click "Import this batch into the catalog" 1.7. Click "View detail of the enqueued job" or wait for a bit 1.8.
