[Bug 42335] New: Accessibility of top level menu (staff interface)
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 30 Oct '26

30 Oct '26

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=42335 Bug ID: 42335 Summary: Accessibility of top level menu (staff interface) Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: 25.05 Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Accessibility Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: raina(a)flo.org QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org CC: martin.renvoize(a)openfifth.co.uk, matt.blenkinsop(a)openfifth.co.uk, oleonard(a)myacpl.org In the top level menu (#toplevelmenu) in the staff interface, the dropdown icon (#catalog-search-dropdown) that expands to show the Advanced and Item search options does not have any label for assistance technology. The Cart icon in the same menu also does not have any label. Because both have href attributes but no labels or link text, a screen reader may read these as "link" (tested with VoiceOver), making it unclear to the user what they are when user is navigating through the menu. For the dropdown icon that goes to Search options, this does follow the "Search" text in the top level menu, but it could be made more clear to all users that this is an icon to toggle show search options (such as with an aria-label), whereas clicking the "Search" text will to the Advanced search page. The shopping cart icon could simply have an aria-label. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 19501] New: New list category to restrict specific lists to staff & hide from OPAC
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 30 Oct '26

30 Oct '26

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=19501 Bug ID: 19501 Summary: New list category to restrict specific lists to staff & hide from OPAC Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Lists Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: Jeremy.evans(a)nibsc.org QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org CC: m.de.rooy(a)rijksmuseum.nl We are creating various lists of titles that need to be hidden from view in the OPAC for the time being but other staff members need to see them. At the moment the options are Public or Private so this won't do what we require. We would like an additional list category selection of Staff so that those lists are then visible in the staff client (& presumably also to anyone who logs into the OPAC with a staff permissions login) but are not publicly visible in the OPAC. The intention is that multiple staff members may need to add items to some of these lists. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 42386] New: Unify hold availability checks into Koha::Availability pattern
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 30 Oct '26

30 Oct '26

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=42386 Bug ID: 42386 Summary: Unify hold availability checks into Koha::Availability pattern Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Architecture, internals, and plumbing Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: tomascohen(a)gmail.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org Depends on: 41728, 42385 Hold availability is currently split across three different interfaces with different return shapes: - Koha::Patron->can_place_holds â patron eligibility gate Returns Koha::Result::Boolean with messages - C4::Reserves::CanItemBeReserved â item-level hold policy Returns hashref with {status} - C4::Reserves::CanBookBeReserved â biblio-level hold policy Returns hashref with {status} This bug proposes unifying these into the Koha::Availability pattern introduced in bug 41728: - Koha::Patron::Hold::Availability â patron eligibility checks (expired, debt, restricted, card lost, global hold limit) - Koha::Item::Hold::Availability â item-level hold policy checks (hold policy, circ rules, on-shelf holds, pickup location, etc.) Both would return Koha::Availability::Result and support no_short_circuit and overrides, consistent with the checkin availability class. This would also require untangling patron-level checks that leaked into CanItemBeReserved (e.g. maxreserves in certain code paths) and pushing them back to the patron-level orchestrator. Note: This is a significant refactoring effort. CanItemBeReserved has ~15 different checks with complex interactions. A multi-patch approach is recommended.
