[Bug 42524] New: Option to calculate priorities based on reservedate when moving hold to a new record

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=42524 Bug ID: 42524 Summary: Option to calculate priorities based on reservedate when moving hold to a new record Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Hold requests Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: andrew(a)bywatersolutions.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org CC: gmcharlt(a)gmail.com, lisette(a)bywatersolutions.com, tomascohen(a)gmail.com Depends on: 31698 Currently, when a hold is moved to a new record the hold is placed at the end of the priority list. It would be helpful to provide an option to work the moved hold into the priority list based on when the hold was created -- the moved hold would go after older holds, before newer holds. This does present a problem if the new target record has holds whose priority has been manually changed so that they are no longer in order of age. For the merging of bib records we addressed this same issue by fully rebuilding the priority list for the new merged bib, discarding any manual priority changes and putting all holds in order of age. We could take the same approach here. [Bug 39418] New: RDA Carrier, Content, & Media Vocabularies
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 13 Oct '26

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=39418 Bug ID: 39418 Summary: RDA Carrier, Content, & Media Vocabularies Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Cataloging Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: ephetteplace(a)cca.edu QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org CC: m.de.rooy(a)rijksmuseum.nl On our Koha, we've loaded the RDA vocabularies for MARC 336 Content, 337 Media, and 338 Carrier into our authorized values in order to connect them with the $a and $b subfields of those fields in our MARC frameworks. This bug would preload these vocabularies for new instances of Koha. There are two AV categories per field, one for the human-readable term ($a) and one for a short code ($b). I made the lib/lib_opac text for the codes the term they represent, so one does not have to memorize the meanings of the codes. I do not see any instance of an authorized value being connected with a MARC field during installation (looking in installer/data/mysql/en/marcflavour/marc21/mandatory/marc21_framework_DEFAULT.yml where all the authorised_value properties are empty) so I have not done so with these either. That seems reasonable; some libraries may want to use different terms. But the RDA vocabs are widely used and stable, so including them as an option for catalogers is worthwhile. To load these into an existing Koha instance, this is the SQL we used: https://github.com/phette23/scrape_rda_vocabs/blob/main/koha.sql -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. [Bug 42386] New: Unify hold availability checks into Koha::Availability pattern
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 13 Oct '26

13 Oct '26

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=42386 Bug ID: 42386 Summary: Unify hold availability checks into Koha::Availability pattern Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: Main Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Architecture, internals, and plumbing Assignee: koha-bugs(a)lists.koha-community.org Reporter: tomascohen(a)gmail.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org Depends on: 41728, 42385 Hold availability is currently split across three different interfaces with different return shapes: - Koha::Patron->can_place_holds â patron eligibility gate Returns Koha::Result::Boolean with messages - C4::Reserves::CanItemBeReserved â item-level hold policy Returns hashref with {status} - C4::Reserves::CanBookBeReserved â biblio-level hold policy Returns hashref with {status} This bug proposes unifying these into the Koha::Availability pattern introduced in bug 41728: - Koha::Patron::Hold::Availability â patron eligibility checks (expired, debt, restricted, card lost, global hold limit) - Koha::Item::Hold::Availability â item-level hold policy checks (hold policy, circ rules, on-shelf holds, pickup location, etc.) Both would return Koha::Availability::Result and support no_short_circuit and overrides, consistent with the checkin availability class. This would also require untangling patron-level checks that leaked into CanItemBeReserved (e.g. maxreserves in certain code paths) and pushing them back to the patron-level orchestrator. Note: This is a significant refactoring effort. CanItemBeReserved has ~15 different checks with complex interactions. A multi-patch approach is recommended.
