But there was a comment in that discussion that made me think. I suppose we could scan the barcode and send it to a Koha API for processing... It looks like there's a Perl library that hooks into a C library that could work very well: https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/libbarcode-zbar-perl I think that this is likely to be much more effective than using a Javascript library. I've had mixed results with Javascript libraries. These recommendations could, for example, rely on the subject headings associated with bibliographic records in order to suggest similar or complementary documents to users. Although there currently exists a plug-in that allows recommendations to be offered, it requires the user to be logged into their account to access the suggestions when viewing a record. When creating a purchase suggestion from within a patron account in the staff interface, the Request management section is supposed to automatically assign the BY field to the patron account. Instead, it is assigning it to the logged in staff member. But that isn't even completely correct, as it isn't getting tied to the staff member's account when completed. The end result is that requests being made are not tied to anyone in particular. However, you can still use the Set to patron button and set the patron, and it will work.
