koha 2.0.0pre4 is out

The 2.0.0pre4 version of Koha has been released. It may be interesting for english users to update. French users MUST update : RELEASE NOTES ============= This version of Koha is still in the "unstable" directory, because some bugs are still reported. But it's fully useable and used in (at least) 4 libraries in "real world" : * Nelsonville Public Library, Ohio, USA * Esiee, high school, France * Dombes Abbey, France * Wesford school, France This release fixes a few bugs, and MANY french translation fixes/improvements. BUGFIXES/IMPROVEMENTS --------- * new script : koha/koha/misc/overduenotices.pl This is a script for the use of printing, and emailing overdue notices. The script must be run from the command line Documentation is contained in the script * fix for bug 603 : patron searches are wonky when first letter of first and last name are the same * removing trailing "," in subject. * fixing some bugs in charges.pl, script that fills the categoryitem table. The categoryitem table contains fines for every itemtype-borrowercategory. Still has to be templated and added to admin part of Koha * notforloan bug fix : now, if a specific item is "notforloan" and the itemtype "forloan", the "notforloan" is used. Before this fix, it was overwritted by the itemtype info/ * fixing a bug that deleted the MARC part of a biblio when using full acqui system. Now, when you acquire a book through full acqui system, what you enter during acqui appears in the right MARC fields in MARC editor. Hi, Yesterday, I've commited many (20 commits) improvments/fixes to the french translation of Koha. I would like to release a 2.0.0pre4 just for those improvements. I can do it today, or monday. Sorry for the re-post, but I never got a response to this, and I'd really like to know the answer! In opac-user.pl, in the default template, there's a column marked 'Current Loan', with values 'yes' or 'no' (<TMPL_IF NAME="status">) What does that mean? In the vanilla template for the same file, there's this block of markup: <TMPL_IF NAME="renewable"> <A HREF='/cgi-bin/koha/opac-renew.pl?from=opac_user&item=<TMPL_VAR NAME="itemnumber">&bornum=<TMPL_VAR NAME="borrowernumber">' class="padded">Renew</A> <TMPL_ELSE> Not renewable </TMPL_IF> ...but this always returns 'Not renewable'. Hi all, I've just put the first semi-usable Biblio::ILL::ISO up on the CPAN. Still need to figure out how to handle ASN.1 extensions, and do a whack of interoperability testing with "real" ILL systems.... but it's a start. Thanks for your comments, they are always appreciated. -David Christensen

Hi All, With a bit of holidaying, and some folks working flat tack on their day jobs, we seem to have lost a bit of momentum on 2.0 and thought it would be good to make a special effort to sort out what needs doing still, and set some target dates for the next release candidate/s and for when we think 2.0 should be ready to roll. I think we're close enough to set some dates, and that will give us a goal, and some idea of what to tell clients who aren't sure what version to install etc. Pat has some heavy work commitments at the moment, so a big thank you to Slef for stepping in the last few meetings, and I thought I'd chair the meeting tommorrow, to let him off the hook :-) (Proposed) AGENDA 1/. Outstanding Bugs 2/. What else - are there things to be done that aren't in the bug system? 3/. South African interest in Koha

Hi Is there anyone on the list who knows about any attempts to implement the Koha system in South Africa? If so, can they possibly share contact details with me? I work in the public sector and am keen to assess whether Koha provides our library with a viable alternative as compared to some of the commercially available solutions for small, specialist libraries.
