Putting Koha into Docker...

Greetings, I’ve been tasked to dockerize our Koha installation, and I noticed https://github.com/digibib/koha-docker I also noticed it said “www.koha.org” on https://github.com/digibib/koha-docker/wiki even though the code says, “echo "deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha stable main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list” on https://github.com/digibib/koha-docker/blob/master/Dockerfile So, I’m confused if this is usable for production and it is is Koha or LibLime. My dockerizing journey: sign off requests (please?)

Greetings, Thanks to everyone that pointed me at various things. It’s helped point me in a workable direction, I believe. However, what would be even more useful are getting sign offs for some bugs: Bug 14533<https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14533> - koha-create --use-db option shouldn't create any db or db user https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14533 Bug 18564<https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18564> - koha-common.cnf parsing is too restrictive https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18564 Bug 9409<https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=9409> - koha-create --request-db should be able to accept a dbhost option https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=9409 These three bugs would let me set environment variables to build a temporary password file to then setup access to a pre-existing remote database. Granted, there might still be problems: Bug 16690<https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=16690> - Installing DB on remote server fails without *.* permissions https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=16690 Which tangentially touches on: Bug 17237<https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17237> - Stop koha-create from creating MySQL users without host restriction https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17237 Though, there is nothing to sign off yet for this one. I’d prefer to not custom roll a distribution, but rather seek community assistance in pushing these bugs through. Suggestions requested for a feature / enhancement based around opac-retrieve-file.pl

Hi all, the current Koha::Upload.pm and opac-retrieve-file.pl allows for a uploaded file (e.g. PDF) to be displayed on the OPAC as long as the flag is set to public. I know how many librarians feel about reader history privacy and they are protective about it for good reason. In this context, I'm faced with the following two use-cases: In India, e-books with archival rights are gaining ground over hardcopy. As it happens the buyer (institutional library) has to give an undertaking that it will implement reasonable safeguards to ensure that while all their bonafide users should have access to the books, these shall not be presented to the users in such as way as to permit un-monitored access / downloads by un-authenticated users etc along with maintenance of any access log for any necessary compliance. Or for example PhD theses where many institutions across India have an embargo on the full-text online access for non-members for a period upto 2 years from the date of publication, but no such restriction exist for bonafide authorised users. I am working on an early stage prototype to support this sort of functionality. My question here to you all is that how far are we open as devs and librarians to accept such an extension into Koha? Of course, there would be a syspref that will have to be set for the functionality to kick in. Suggestions?
