Patch to catalogue by itemtypes report

Hi all! I'm the IT guy for the Perth Bible College in Western Australia. We've been using Koha for the last 2 years or so, and are *very* happy with it. One thing that we required, however, was a report to show the value of the books in our library. This was necessary for all sorts of legal reasons. I patched the itemtypes report to include a third column for the price of each itemtype, and a grand total price at the bottom. A *very* simple patch. Would anyone be interested in this patch being submitted? I know that I've upgraded twice already (each time having to add the patch in manually :GRIN:) Once again, kudos to all the developers! Files missing from 2.2.7 ?

Hi All, just wondering why this file is missing from 2.2.7 ? If you do (Default Template, hut same with NPL) catalog - add biblio - create empty biblio - Tab 0 - Field 008 - Click on the three little dots to open the "Leader Builder" and you will get a 500 server error, if you take a look at the Koha logs you see this. [Tue Dec 12 14:44:15 2006] [error] [client 172.16.2.23] Premature end of script headers: plugin_launcher.pl, referer: http://kohar.spc.int:8080/cgi-bin/koha/acqui.simple/addbiblio.pl And apache logs HTML::Template->new() : Cannot open included file /usr/local/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/default/en/value_builder/m arc21_field_008.tmpl : file not found. at /usr/share/perl5/HTML/Template.pm line 1580 The reason being that these 2 files marc21_field_008.tmpl marc21_field_008_authorities.tmpl are missing from the directory /usr/local/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/default/en/value_builder/ I copied them over from my backup of 2.2.5 and it works again ? Suspensions and the Fines system

Greetings, I'm wondering if Koha has a way to suspend users when they fail to return their books instead of charging them with money. In Venezuela (and at least in other Latinamerican country, as I saw in the mailing list archives) users are not fined, but instead are barred of using the library for usually three days. I've implemented a sloppy solution which I'm studying right now. In C4::Circulation::Fines.pm, under the UpdateFine function, I added a statement which sets the debarred value in the borrowers table to "1", effectively impeding the user to request books. This is supposed to happen when the user is starting to get fined by Koha. OTOH, in the fines2.pl script, I took profit of the $difference variable which is used to re-calculate the fines daily. When that $difference variable reaches 3 (days), the debarred flag gets set to "0" again. Then, the librarian clicks "Pay fine" and just "as if", the user's back again. Of course this lacks some stuff, for example, having a sane way to specify the number of days of suspension (via the Parameters system) and also it assumes that the user has returned the item in that 3-day slot. I would like to know if somebody has any experience regarding this, and maybe some ideas about a proper development for this feature. Yours, Jose -- José M. Hello, I've just commited a new feature, called "catalogue browsing". A new script in misc/cronjobs/build_browser_and_cloud.pl will fill 2 new tables. - One for "tag cloud" searching : the tags are not filled by the users themselves, but from the catalogue. I plan to add later a feature to have a user-level tag system + a p2p system to share tags. for instance the "tag cloud" table will be filled from the catalogue only. - One for "Catalogue browsing" : depending on the parameters you give to build_browser_and_cloud.pl script, you'll fill the browser table, that let the user browse the catalogue. If you have dewey classification in your catalogue, you'll be able to dig the dewey hierarchy (3 => 31 => 311 => 311.2 ...), and define description for the 3, 31, 311... french dewey has been commited & you can see the result at : http://o17.bureau.paulpoulain.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-browser.pl It should be easy to add english dewey, Loc classification or any other hierarchic classification. TO DO : - improve the build_... script, to have an option to update only last-week bilbio modifications. This can be made easily, but at the price of imprecision in the counters, which is cheap imho. The "complete" calculus can be run once a month anyway. Hello world, 8 librarians, from 6 different libraries had a meeting in France, last monday, to test Koha 3.0 (all modules, from 2 different libraries migrated from koha 2.2) Our meeting was quite productive, because they have filled 108 bugs !!! hdl entered them (in french) in a OOo spreadsheet. We are working hard to fix them asap. Let me know if you are interested by the list, even if in french. I have successfully run Koha on a free linux apache mysql perl webhost, freehostia.com. I had no shell access, one mysql database with a 6mb limit, one hostname. All my mysql management was done through phpmysql, including importing of my database. I did not edit any httpd.conf, due to freehostia not supporting me at all. So the answer is.... Koha can pretty much run in any enviroment that has any webserver, that can spawn perl processes, and hosts mysql, or even you could find a free mysql host, if your webserver/perl combo doesn't give you mysql. I'm considering setting up a Koha database. I already have a Linux based "business pro" account with www.1and1.co.uk. Relevant features of "business pro" 1and1 plan: - PHP 3, 4 & 5 - Perl - 8x MySQL (100 MB per database) - Shell access via SSH Should Koha run properly in this environment?
