Community positions for 25.05 cycle

Hi everyone, It's that time again, we're coming up to release time for 24.11 and that means picking the team for the 25.05 cycle! Please see the roles page at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Roles_for_25.05 and add your name to a role if you would like to propose volunteering for it. The team vote will take place on November 13th at the next community general meeting. We'd love to see some new faces on the team, and it's just as important to have non-developers helping to guide the ship as it is the developers. Some roles I'd like to draw your attention to: * Bug Wranglers <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Bug_wrangler> - We can always do with more bug wranglers! These people love to keep things tidy and Bugzilla is always in need of your help. We need people to help manage 'the list', identify the duplicates, promote bugs to specialists and find people to do signoffs and testing. Everyone is invited to this party, we need you! This is a great first-time role to take on and it makes a real difference to active community contributors' lives! * Documentation Team <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Documentation_team> - The documentation team is a growing team that's made great inroads into bringing Koha's documentation up to date and ensuring we have a well-documented piece of software. There's plenty more to do and they're always on the lookout for new contributors. The documentation team are a super-friendly group and would love to see you join them; Aude is happy to have a chat <https://chat.koha-community.org/> should you want to talk about the role before applying. * Wiki Curators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Wiki_team> - Koha's wiki is bursting at the seams with good information, but we need your help to bring order to the chaos and keep improving the content. If you've got an interest in maintaining an area of the Wiki, helping identify out-of-date information or categorizing data then this is a job for you. * Meeting facilitators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Meeting_facilitators> - We have regular meetings in the community to discuss development progress, documentation tasks and general community needs. It would be really helpful to have someone to help promote those meetings, keep them on track and work on the minutes. Right now these meetings tend to be run, recorded, minuted and promoted all by the team managers and that's a difficult task. We'd really like some help here, please. * Accessibility advocate <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Accessibility_advocate> - In Koha, we really want to be open and accessible to all but accessibility is an area that many of us are not as aware of as we should be. We'd like to have some people helping to promote best practices and report accessibility issues we might not be aware of. There are lots of other roles and I'm more than happy to try and mentor anyone interested in taking any of them on. If it's not something I've personally taken on in the past, I'm confident I can find the right person to help you out. Personal push: I'd love to see some more people on the QA team, we need help there as it's often a blocking point in our queues. There's lots of small QA work that people could use to get up to speed so do please feel free to offer your assistance and I'm happy to mentor. Looking forward to seeing some new names on the list and your active engagement. Discussion around Koha ILS-DI endpoints expecting a CSRF token from third-party integrations

Kia ora koutou/Hello everyone, We have several Koha integrations that require third-party systems to call Koha ILS-DI endpoints. For example, Bolinda (BorrowBox) which calls the GetPatronInfo ILS-DI endpoint for authenticating users. Or the EBSCO EDS integration, which can use Koha ILS-DI endpoints for fetching RTAC (Real-Time Availability Check) data - alternatively, it can also integrate via Koha Z39.50. Since Koha 24.05, ILS-DI requests for these integrations do not work, because the Koha CSRF.pm <https://git.koha-community.org/Koha-community/Koha/src/branch/main/Koha/Mid…> file expects a CSRF token for all stateful methods (POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH requests), including ILS-DI endpoints. As ILS-DI is designed to be used cross site, we would be interested to hear the communities thoughts on what could, or should, be done to get ILS-DI requests from third-party systems working again - given these integrations do not pass through CSRF tokens. To that end we have logged a bug report for having this conversation: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=37899 I will also link this bug report from the community Mattermost Development channel. 24.11 Release deadlines

Hi all, these are the deadlines for the 24.11 release: - 29 October: Soft feature freeze - 11 November: Hard feature freeze and string warning - 20 November: Bug freeze and string freeze - 26 November: 24.11 Release Please remember: there is still a lot we can achieve by helping each other to get over the finish line! Soft feature freeze: Nothing big or with a high risk of side-effects will be pushed after this date. Everything currently in Passed QA will be reviewed for this release. Please pay attention to your bugs for questions or follow-up work that might be required. Hard feature freeze: Nothing categorized as 'enhancement' or 'new feature' will be pushed after this date if not already marked as Passed QA. If you haven't written up nice release notes for your features and enhancements yet, now is the time! String warning/freeze: Since our move to Weblate as translation platform strings are continuously updated, so you can begin your translations at any time. But we will try to be done with all heavy string changes by the 'String warning' date and not to change any strings after 'String freeze'. Bug freeze: Only bug fixes considered major, critical or blocker will be pushed after this date! Getting close to the finish line - let's make 24.11 shine! Hi, Anyone have a clue about this error/warning while installing koha-common: Setting up koha-common (24.06.00-28~git+20240916210118.27f94d8f-1) ... Error: /usr/share/koha/misc/translator/po/sound-marc-MARC21.po not found. ERROR: an error was found when updating 'sound' translations. Please manually run 'koha-translate --update sound'. Run man koha-translate for more options. Can we resolve that somehow? Thx, Marcel
