How to make self-referential URLs in Koha

Hi all, With some recent code, I've been using creating self-referential URL in Koha using CGI->url(), and passing it as a value. With CGI, the URL is correct (ie starting with /cgi-bin/koha). With Plack, it's not, because the OPAC is mounted as "/opac". I worked around this by rewriting the self-referential URL in my code, but I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this. I've noticed there are a few places in Koha where we use CGI->url() and I'm guessing we may have unexpected bugs in Plack-enabled Koha as a result. Of course, one workaround would be to have /opac and /intranet aliases or URL rewriting in Apache, so that the self-referential URLs created by Plack still end up resolving. I wonder if that's the easiest path forward. In the past, I have wondered if we could get rid of "/cgi-bin/koha" as a path prefix all together (especially as cgi-bin scares security tools), but it's so deeply embedded in Koha at this point that it seems a huge task to replace it. Z39.50 daemon with ElasticSearch

Hi to, I'm trying to use ElasticSearch everywhere with Koha 20.11 I'm working on Debian 10, EleasticSearch 6.8.13, Java openjdk 11 (Debian package) The search on Opac and Intranet is OK. Problems are on z39.50 server. With bug 13937 a z39.50/SRU server is ready also with ES as search back-end. But now the demonization of the script doesn't work. If i do: sudo koha-z3950-responder --start lib and I do a check with: yaz-client Z> open 127.0.0.1:2100/biblios Connecting...OK. Sent initrequest. Target closed connection Z> The result is 'closed connection', ZOOM error: 1004 But if do: sudo koha-z3950-responder --stop lib sudo koha-shell lib /usr/bin/perl /usr/share/koha/bin/z3950_responder.pl -c /etc/koha/sites/lib/z3950 -l /var/log/koha/lib/z3950.log koha@deb:~$ yaz-client Z> open 127.0.0.1:2100/biblios Connecting...OK. Announcing an alternate indexing daemon for Zebra which is more memory efficient

Hi all, I've written a new indexing daemon for Zebra which you can find at https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=27267. It's dead easy to use. Once the daemon is installed, you just need to update /etc/default/koha-common and you'll be using it. It only uses 6MB of RAM (instead of the 170-180MB I've seen rebuild_zebra.pl use in daemon mode), so it scales well on servers that host many instances of Koha. (For example, if you have 50 Koha instances on a server, you'll use 300MB instead of 9GB for idle Zebra indexing daemons.) That said, this indexing daemon does launch rebuild_zebra.pl in non-daemon mode when necessary, so you still need to have memory available to do actual work. Making rebuild_zebra.pl more memory efficient is another task in itself and not a pressing issue atm. I'm planning to use it shortly myself, but I figured that I would share it with everyone else, so that everyone else could benefit from it too. Hope others enjoy it as much as I do. Zebra ICU / phrases-icu.xml / Bug 27299

Hi all, Indexdata have confirmed that the default phrases-icu.xml shipped with Zebra (and Koha) is misconfigured. They're updating the default one in Zebra and I have a patch to update Koha at Bug 27299: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=27299 It's an easy enough change to make, and I'll be updating it for all my ICU libraries. I encourage all you Zebra ICU users out there to update your phrases-icu.xml as I've suggested on Bugzilla. I think that you'll find it makes a world of difference. To add a new filed to search (with ElasticSearch)

Hi to all, how can I add a new field to search, if I use ElasticSearch ? As I have check on wiki and on documentation, I need to use .yaml files. Make sure you use the latest coverflow .kpz from the site, and make sure you restart all the things after uploading it. Also, I found that the move of OPACMainUserBlock into the news section, produced undesired effects. REST API / MARC fields

Hi all, Any thoughts here about how we should handle updating fields in MARC which have no specific corresponding database field. I am thinking about e.g. a persistent identifier in MARC21 field 024 or an OCLC number in field 035. Could we add REST API entries for such changes as well? They will only generate changes in the marcxml for now.. Thanks, Marcel
