koha-3.00.00 make fails

Hi all, I have downloaded http://download.koha.org/koha-3.00.00.tar.gz and began installing it on Debian/etch (in a Linux vserver environment). 0. FINE: cd koha-3.00.00 1. FINE: perl Makefile.PL 2. FAIL: make : : : Manifying blib/man3/C4::UploadedFile.3pm Manifying blib/man3/C4::BackgroundJob.3pm Manifying blib/man3/opac::opac-dictionary.3pm Manifying blib/man3/serials::member-search.3pm /usr/bin/perl "-Iblib/arch" "-Iblib/lib" fix-perl-path.PL blib /usr/bin/perl "-Iblib/arch" "-Iblib/lib" rewrite-config.PL blib/KOHA_CONF_DIR/koha-conf.xml Bad arg length for Socket::inet_ntoa, length is 0, should be 4 at rewrite-config.PL line 67. make: *** [blib/KOHA_CONF_DIR/koha-conf.xml] Error 255 Any ideas what went wrong and how to fix? Aside: there were a couple of other problems with this "out of the box" debian based install of Koha 3.0 which had to be fixed along the way, e.g. seven missing perl modules and libgd not found. I get the digest, so i am only able to respond now. I want to report one failure, and an eventual success (using a different route...) The failure: i was unable to deploy Koha to my regular account with a shared hosting service (specifically, hostmonster.com) i don't remember any problems with the make process, however, i had issues with getting the hosting to work...i don't even think i was using virtual hosts, i wanted to first get at least the INTRANET running, but the only thing i could use was changes to .htaccess files, since i don't get access to Apache's config directly. Koha had problems finding the Perl modules, specifically it did not pick up environment variables pointing to their location i was not very smart at that point with different approaches, so after trying for a while, i chose another route... Success: Since i was determined to host on the Internet, i basically decided to get my "own server", essentially a slice (at slicehost.com) They use virtualization and give you a choice of OS, ample bandwidth, and for all practical purposes, its like your own box, where you are root and can do whatever you like. >From then on, it was like a regular Koha install and a few hours later, it was up and running... i've never gone back and analyzed what went wrong with the shared hosting, but i basically faced one problem after another, so that eventually, i just gave up. But, i think, in theory, it should be possible to do with some changes to the install process. Yes, the previous problem was solved, indeed... I do not understand why I have so many problems installing koha,.. maybe the last years I was too used to Joomla! installations :D So the challenging koha that its concept I so much admire and embrace makes me face another problem. I have always dreamed about the day where we can install last stable version of Koha just typing "apt-get install koha". How far do we are from that? Where are the problems to achieve this dream? New sysprefs editor

As demoed at KohaCon09, I have a new sysprefs editor in the works. Anyone who is interested can see the code at http://github.com/pianohacker/koha/tree/prefs . Status of "Calculate fines in days debarred" in RFC 3.2

I'd like to know the status of the implementation of this: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=en:development:rfcs3.2:fines_in_days We've been implementing that in koha on our own this year in our university libraries. I'd like to know if there's a consensus on the changes needed in the database scheme and/or the way it should be implemented so we can try to contribute some code.
