How to get CAS based Single Sign On working?

Hi All, I have a situation where we have a main website based on Joomla. This Joomla site uses CAS to authenticate users. We would like users ( who have already logged in to the Joomla site via CAS) to be able to follow a link to Koha site and be logged in automatically ( e.g. Single Sign On ). I have got simple CAS ( not proxy CAS ) working with Koha ( version 3.2.6 ) using the same CAS server as used by Joomla site. Still when I login to Joomla site with CAS, and then go to Koha and click on login and follow the CAS login link, I am asked to fill up CAS login information again. How can this be avoided by using CAS SSO? I have read through http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SSO_CAS_improvements and am confused by the statement "Note: simple sso cas support (no proxy) has been done already by biblibre, is in testing and should be released in Koha 3.2" in there. Does this statement mean that SSO is possible with simple CAS? If yes how to set it up? If not, I have also read through bugs 6012, 5630 and the CAS Proxy examples. Frankly I haven't been able to figure out how I can achieve the above required functionality based on all the reading. Any help is much appreciated.. Another related query is, Is it possible to automatically create users in Koha once they have authenticated with CAS? Opac doesn't support IE6 and IE7 (with js enabled). Are we aware of this ?

Hi to all, cheking if do o not update of JQuery plugin DataTables I find that now the Opac doesn't support IE6/IE7 with boostrap theme (the default theme now). In fact we use the plugin jstree, https://github.com/vakata/jstree/, that work only from IE8. Probably it work if you disable javascript but many features of Opac are based on javascript. For me it OK, IE6 and IE7 are only 3% of desktop browsers if we check wikipedia source, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers. But: -- Are we aware of this situation -- Is it OK ? Proposal for a change in guidelines for the sign-off process in the Koha-community

Hello All - During the hackfest, there was a discussion on the sign-off process for Koha. In attendance was, Nathan, Chris, Katrin, Paul_P, Jonathan, Arnaud, Joy, Brendan, Tomás, Brooke, Tom, and BobB. Here is what we all agreed upon to send a proposal to the next developers or general meeting I'd like to put forward a motion for removal of the guideline that one company shouldn't sign-off on the same company's patches within the community. I am suggesting additional checks be included in the sign-off process to prevent abuse of the proposed guideline, such as the committer and the person signing off must not have collaborated on the development of the patch. We shall review that idea/process every 6 months as an agenda item in the general meeting, to make sure that no abuse of the new privilege has occurred; also note here - that we do not have to wait 6 months to point out abuse of this new privilege. The QA team and Release Team still have the right to ask for more eyes to look at a certain bug at anytime and this should continue. Thank you, Brendan Gallagher

Brendan: What do you exactly mean here? The bug/enh thought is kind of vague :) There will always be discussion if some patch is just a bugfix or an enhancement. System preference question

Greetings, I was looking at Bug 9580, and came across the non-problem of non-existent system preferences. That is, the system preference does not exist in the systempreferences table, but that didn’t stop me from creating it on the fly when I set the system preference in the staff client, because the .pref file had been modified and updating it created the missing system preference, and it did not cause any difficulties in actually testing. Should all system preferences be in syspref.sql? Should all system preferences be created in updatedatabase.pl? Or are there exceptions like this one, where it just works? Hi everyone, I've just pushed the patches our OPAC MM (Chris) integrated into his MM branch. Thanks Chris! (a) prog/CCSR deprecation patches pushed I encourage all of you to broadly test master for problems related to this major removal (about 1123 files :-D). (b) Translation Bernardo will be creating the 3.18 files on the translation site, so we have an idea of the amount of work it will take for 3.18. (c) Feature freeze Remember we are close to feature freeze, please contact me if you're having any trouble having your patches passed, i'll try to help you with that and evaluate the possibility of the enhancement to hit 3.18.
