koha-3.00.00 make fails

Hi all, I have downloaded http://download.koha.org/koha-3.00.00.tar.gz and began installing it on Debian/etch (in a Linux vserver environment). 0. FINE: cd koha-3.00.00 1. FINE: perl Makefile.PL 2. Aside: there were a couple of other problems with this "out of the box" debian based install of Koha 3.0 which had to be fixed along the way, e.g. seven missing perl modules and libgd not found. system preference question (anonymous preferences)

There are 2 system preferences in my most recent version of HEAD: - AnonSuggestions -- Set to anonymous borrowernumber to enable Anonymous suggestions - AnonymousPatron -- Set the identifier (borrowernumber) of the 'Mister anonymous' patron. Used for Suggestion and reading history privacy Does this mean that AnonSuggestions is not used? I personally think we need both and that Anon should be for suggestions and AnonymousPatron for reading history. Can someone please clarify these for me? Thanks Nicole

How about a different way of handling database updates

Database updates using the updatedatabase.pl script. I'm thinking there could be a better way, both for developers and the release maintainers. The problem is that we have a sequential number controlling the updates. This is working now, but I think there could be a better way. The current method is simple, it has that benefit. On the other hand it makes things more complex for the release maintainer to make sure the sequence is right. It's also more complex for the developers to coordinate who will use what number. My idea is to use a string for the update instead of a number. It will mean adding a table to the database to track update strings that have been applied. This way each developer, or company, uses their own string to distinguish updates. Also, in order to keep the table from being huge, the release maintainer will occasionally announce a database revision. We will keep the number to effectively federate the updates. Within each revision there will be any number of update strings. With each new revision it is assumed that the updates from the previous version are applied, so the database table is emptied. There will be some added complexity when when there is a revision. The developers who are working on update code will have to move their in the updatedatabase.pl file into the section for the new revision. The added benefit of this method is that developers, and companies, can have a database update easily without worrying about it getting into the official code repositories. The change is kept in the developers own branch, with it's unique update string, while others that are accepted into the official code are also there. Does that make sense? Have I described it well enough? Is anyone interested in this idea? I've been thinking about it, and the changes to the database update process should be minimal. There will be significant changes, but not many of them. There will have to be a sub added to check if an update string is in the database. And a sub to add the update string to the tracking table in the database. And the revision update sub will have to be expanded to empty that table. I think that would be the extent of the changes. New version of Yaz

I just noticed that there is a new version of Yaz. We have gone from 3.0.x to 4.0.x. Can anyone share what may have been fixed with this upgrade? Zebra and OpenSuse

Hi all I am working Koha 9.00.05, Zebra and OpenSuse 11.2 and the ./rebuild_zebra.pl -a -b -z process is not automatic. When I try /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon, it shows: koha@linux:/> /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon start koha@linux:/> /etc/init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon start Starting Zebraqueue Daemon /etc/init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon: line 26: daemon: no se encontro la orden koha@linux:/> Also for innserv /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon, it shows: insserv: warning: script 'koha-zebraqueue-daemon' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'koha-zebra-daemon' missing LSB tags and overrides Neither the cronjob "* * * * * /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -a -b -z" is working. git.koha.org outage

Hi, all. Just a brief update on the git.koha.org outage. That server is currently unreachable, even on an administrative basis. We've been working with the hosting provider (Spry) for the past several hours to get it back online. It ought to be available again soon. Cheers, Clay

Budget in Acquisitions in koha-3.00.05 does not update

Dear all, On fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.10, koha-3.00.05, Budget does not get updated in acquisitions after receiving books. There is no error in /var/log/koha. But apache log has some errors in /var/log/apache2/ Here is the error. Can anyone suggest how to sort out this error.
