Hello koha-devel, I'm very very happy to (re-) introduce Henri Damien Laurent. It's a french developper that is one of my friends. He worked just for fun on Koha 2.0.0 (templated some code). Then he leaved France for Ivory Coast, 2 years ago. In october, he got married, and 15 days after the wedding ceremony, he flyed back to France with the french army (search for troubles in Ivory Coast in 2004, november) Now he is in France with it's wife, and i'm very very very very happy to announce that i've hired him (for at least 3 months, hopefully more). He read this list as well as most other koha-related lists. He works at full time on Koha, on 2 things for now : * moving koha-fr.org (and some other sites) to a new server (P4-3GhZ HT - 512MB RAM, 80GB HD, good bandwidh) * writing stats modules. In the french mailing list, we had some discussion on the new module. I've made a OOo document in French (ask for it if you speak french and are insterested to see what will be in the module) In a few word, there will be some pre-produced stats, plus a tool to export datas in CSV (for Excel / OpenOffice.org Calc), that could enable virtually any stat. (After that, he will work with me on some contracts i've signed.) Code expected to be in CVS-HEAD in the next days (2 weeks ?), then i'll port it to rel_2_2 for release in 2.2.x This module being funded by EMN (Ecole des Mines de Nantes) -- Paul POULAIN Consultant indépendant en logiciels libres responsable francophone de koha (SIGB libre http://www.koha-fr.org)

2.4. Release Manager? Bugzilla assignments?

Do we have a Release Manager for 2.4 yet? We had discussed the possibility of Emiliano taking the position (here, in IRC: http://koha.org/cgi- bin/logs.pl?recall=recall&saved_query=Koha%20Organizational%20M eeting%202004-09-21), but we haven't heard from him in a long time. Part of the reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering how we should handle the many bugs in Bugzilla which are now assigned to inactive developers (mostly Steve Tonnesen). Is it time to re-think the default assignments in bugzilla? Who should be the fall-back assign-to person for new bugs? Dewey still a double?

Where reading our isntallation to put it on production. Today we were trying to understand some behaviour on koha, so we went to read source code and the database structure. We noticed that the dewey in the biblioitem table still is a double, we thought that this was changed a few month ago, since it doesn't have sence (at least for us). Andres

Hi All! I wanted to report that I believe I have achieved complete success in getting marc records imported to the desired locations for my two koha installations. With the help of individuals here I was able to get bulkmarcimport.pl to work the way I wished and I have also, by creating soft links, been able to move the actual mysql databases to a different physical drive. Requested feature (biblio title order)

Hi, In 2.2, when you order a search by title, stopwords at the beginning are still used in the ordering. "A simple software" will be ordered before "The last minute". In France (& I think in other countries it's the same), we are supposed to have "A" and "The" ignored at the beginning of the title having "(A) simple software" after "(the) last minute". To add this feature in Koha we could : * add a field in biblio.title. Call it biblio.titlenostopword (anybody a suggestion for a better name ;-) ?) * in Biblio.pm, in OLDnewbiblio / OLDmodbiblio => put the title with stopwords removed in this new field * don't order on biblio.title but on the new field. Quite simple to do, a day of work not more. Do we think it's an important feature that could be in 2.2.x or not ? Thanks for your assistance Stephen. The routine ran fine, but, since I have two installs I am trying to keep separate, I need a way to designate where the data will go. It appears that the data path defaults to /var/lib/mysql/variablename. I need to designate two separate data paths, preferably not as a subdir of /var/lib/mysql, and have my two instances of KOHA be able to find the right set of data. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to do to implement this change? re: Add biblio bug

Hi Greg, There is a simple fix for this. The problem is in the template addbiblio.tmpl. In the lines that call the javascript function AddField(), change from: href="javascript:AddField()" to: href="javascript:AddField("")" I'm doing this from memory so I hope the placement of the quotes above is correct! This code needs to be fixed in 10 places (once per tab). What seems to be happening is that the tag value is being sent to the javascript function as an integer so leading zeros (as in the ISBN tag) are being stripped. Lee In addbiblio.pl.... I click on the + sign to add a seccond ISBN number for a biblio entry. Instead of adding a seccond ISBN field, it adds a new LCCN field. This bug has existed in earlier versions of KOHA as well, but I never got around to reporting it. To ensure the problem is not in my database, I did a clean insteall, and found this happened whilst adding my first biblio entry. Greg

MARC tags/subfields downloaded v/s displayed

Hi all, I've got a question concerning the downloaded MARC tags/subfields from Z3950. If a certain MARC tag/subfield is present in the Z3950 downloaded record, but I choose not to display this tag/subfield in the MARC view (i.e., tab = - 1 or 'ignored'), is the tag/subfield supposed to be stored in marc_subfield_table? Maybe I misinterpreted what I read a while back, but I thought ALL of the MARC data was stored even though it may not be displayed. I'm finding that only those tag/subfields that are visible on download are stored. But AFTER the downloaded biblio is saved into the catalogue, I can then show/hide the subset of subfields that actually made it into the marc_subfield_table. I'm running Koha2.0.0. Is this design intent or is this a bug that there is a fix for already? Can anyone comment? Thanks, Lee
