Respected All I am installing Koha on ubuntu 9.10 When I am going to installer page localhost:8080 I am getting the error Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@brims-desktop and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. After that I checked my koha-error-log and apache2 log *In apapche2 error-log * [Sat Apr 10 11:02:59 2010] [notice] Apache/2.2.12 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.10-2ubuntu6.4 with Suhosin-Patch configured -- resuming normal operations [Sat Apr 10 11:48:11 2010] [error] [client 127.0.1.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico In Koha-error-log [Sat Apr 10 12:07:46 2010] [error] [client 127.0.1.1] (13)Permission denied: exec of '/usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi- bin/errors/500.pl' failed [Sat Apr 10 12:07:46 2010] [error] [client 127.0.1.1] Premature end of script headers: 500.pl Please help to solve this problem. The Potential Death of Koha in Pennsylvania Libraries

The State Library her in Pennsylvania has started planning for a state-wide ILS. My Director, John Brice attended a tech committee netting this past Friday, bringing myself and Cindy Murdock as well. At the meeting, it was announced that HSLC and Equinox will be installing Evergreen in 33 libraries currently using Millennium. In all likelyhood, in the future all the libraries in the state will be required to switch over to Evergreen. Needless to say, my boss and myself are extremely upset by this proposition to say the least. I would applaud the choice of a FOSS ILS, but the choice would not bring any advantage. It appears to me to be a strictly financial decision. The idea being pushed at the meeting was to give libraries as little choice as possible to keep down costs. If we were forced to switch to Evergreen, not only would our huge investment in Koha via time and money be thrown away, but we would be forced into a new system over which we would be no control or ability to customize. We would have no control over the quality of service, as the servers are planned to be centralized somewhere within the state. I do not relish the idea of our current freedoms being taken away. Looking at the list of logs, the culprit is your mailer, it is filling up your log dir, its probably not configured correctly and is unable to send mail. I would stop whatever mta you have running, from running. Until you have time to configure it correctly, then you can safely remove the .1 mail.log and mail.info logs. Whenever you start getting big log files from your mailer, you know something is going wrong, or you are sending piles of mail. I would also make sure you turn off any cron jobs you have set to mail things. Chris

Relocating koha.org services

Hi, all. With the shift of koha.org-related services from Metavore (LibLime's former owner) to PTFS, we're going to be relocating a few of the services that currently reside on Metavore assets. Most notably, wiki.koha.org and git.koha.org are going to move to a new system. This will involve a bit of semi-downtime for each due to DNS propagation. It's undesirable and unnecessary to lose read access to these services; I'll copy the data to the new location, redefine the DNS entries, and convergence can take its sweet time. However, in order to minimize data syncronization issues, I'm requesting that no changes be made to either of them after 2010-04-12 07:00 UTC. I'll complete the transfer sometime during the 24-hr period after that. Once DNS convergence is complete (theoretically only two hours, but waiting 12 will be safer), I'll shut down the old service locations and it will be safe to resume changes. I'll send another announcement when that window has passed. Please forward this to any relevant lists or individuals. Enjoy, Clay

Hi Koha gang, I have koha running on a 500MB box, vintage 2000, maybe. Slow. I use it for a cataloging class. There 12 students use it simulatneously. Verrrry ssssllllooowwww. Half of class itme is spent waiting for koha. Now I thought I may be able to speed it up with mod_fcgid. I add FcgidInitialEnv PERL5LIB /usr/share/koha/lib <Directory "/usr/share/koha/intranet/"> AddHandler fcgid-script .pl AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/"> AddHandler fcgid-script .pl AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/koha/errors/"> AddHandler fcgid-script .pl AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> to both web server configurations.
