KohaCon / Hackfest

freenode #koha and #koha-news

By way of announcement, the Koha Community has secured control of the #koha namespace on freenode. #koha will serve as a backup for our main #koha channel on OFTC. Folks coming in channel there will receive a message pointing them to the main channel. #koha-news is simply that, a channel for posting Koha related news. huginn will automatically post any items on the blog feed of www.k-c.org. Feel free to post any other Koha related news there as well. This replaces the historic #kohanews channel which will go away at some unknown point when freenode begins enforcing their new namespace policy. Basically we have control of any channel beginning with '#koha-' Enjoy! Kind Regards, Chris

String freeze for 3.6.0

Ok whanau We have hit string freeze, what this means is now any patches that change strings have to be considered quite heavily, because it will make it harder for the translators. Frédéric if you could make the .po files for 3.6 that would be execllent. Now, what is my plan from here, patches that are in signed off state, that don't touch templates, can still go in provided the pass QA. Ones that do change templates, if they are criticals or blockers, they will still go in. Features: My inclination is push any features that are signed off now, or were submitted for sign off before the feature freeze, and that pass qa. My theory for this is, if they miss translation, that can be fixed by 3.6.1 which is only a month later. If they miss going into 3.6.0 they need to wait for 3.8.0 which is 6 months. Chris, Would you mind running dos2unix on the following three xsl files in koha master: [marcel@RKM004 testclone]$ grep -Ulr --include=*.xsl "^M" * koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/xslt/MARC21slim2MODS3-1.xsl koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/xslt/MARC21slim2MODS.xsl koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/xslt/MARC21slim2RDFDC.xsl These three files are the only xsl files in dos format. I could generate a patch for it, but again this will result in lots of whitespace warnings. If you have another idea, please let me know. Applying with --whitespace=strip (or fix) does not make a difference. In both cases the errors are shown, but the changes are applied. I would just like to get rid of the warnings, because they are not valid in this case. In a DOS file (such as this file still is), all lines have CR before LF. When a patch generates warnings, it is likely to be ignored. Git whitespace warnings on DOS files

Hi all, Does anyone of you know how to get rid of whitespace warnings in git in the following scenario. (See also bugzilla patch 6803). (Note that I am using git version 1.6.0.6.) If you have a higher version and do not have the warnings, please let me know. Applying patch /usr/share/koha/rma/patches/6803-mods-xsl-v35.patch /usr/share/koha/rma/patches/6803-mods-xsl-v35.patch:27: trailing whitespace. <xsl:include href="MARC21slimUtils-MODS31.xsl"/> /usr/share/koha/rma/patches/6803-mods-xsl-v35.patch:37: trailing whitespace. --> warning: 2 lines add whitespace errors. The whitespace warnings are related to the CRs (carriage return) on those lines, since the file is still in DOS format (koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/xslt/MARC21slim2MODS3-1.xsl). Thanks, Marcel

memcached and repcached

In an effort to get maximum performance (read speed) out of the latest Koha (3.04.05 -- hope to have it in production next week), I looked at memcached, then found repcached which might or might not help -- it might even be DOA, but then again it might help using two IPs for koha and koha-admin <https://github.com/mdounin/memcached/tree/repcached> Has anyone else looked into or fiddled with this? tnx Paul Tired old sys-admin

Hi this sounds like an excellent idea. unfortunately the program is full atm. but i am sure we can accommodate you in place of some one canceling at the last moment. or for this kind of topic, we can even have a parallel session.. if you want to interact with the developers we are going to have a hackfest from 4th nov to 6th nov. since there is no fixed program for that, you can achieve your objective there too..
