Something similar was discussed some years ago in http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Staff-client-keyboard-shortcuts-td3066327… Koha Staff has four pages where MARC tags are grouped under tabs: catalogue/MARCdetail.pl cataloguing/addbiblio.pl authorities/detail.pl authorities/authorities.pl I successfully proposed to my cataloguers a way to pass from tab to tab pressing numbers (keyboard or keypad). It works fine with Koha 3.2.7 and Koha 3.6.1. I'd like to share the code but I think that we need more testing on Linux and Windows -- keyboard events are managed in a lot of manners by browsers. To test it, open a record like http://your_koha.org:8080/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/MARCdetail.pl?biblionumber… open the Firebug console, paste the code and try to skip from tab to tab pressing numbers. Changing or reloading the record will lose the event capture: paste the code again. And please let me know. Thanks. Stefano

Just a bump... we still need a Translation Manager (someone with a non-English first language preferred), and specific module maintainers. More bug wranglers are always welcome, too! We have single candidates for the other single-person positions, which will make the voting quite... limited. Anyone interested in running for Documentation Manager, Quality Assurance Manager or Release Manager should add their names before next Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Did not even know that I was incumbent ;) I was looking on the wiki for a description of module maintainer, but could not find it. What should we expect from a module maintainer? (Anyone can have an idea about it, but we did not make that explicit.) How does (s)he fit in the work flow from sign-off to push ? Should we also look at the default assignees and default cc’s in Bugzilla per category (a related topic, I suppose) ? Stefano Bargioni has developed a Perl script to generate authority records from bibliographic records, which would be useful for migrating data to Koha from an ILS that lacks authority records. You can download the script and get more info here. Stefano would appreciate help with replacing XML::Simple with YAML::Sick and with preparing config files for non-MARC21. Mysore University Library has implemented a mobile version of their Koha opac. Kristina D.C. Hoeppner posted to her blog an account of her introduction to squashing bugs during Global Bug Squashing Week. Vimal Kumar V. has posted a survey to measure adoption and user perceptions of potential Koha users in India. Chris Cormack tweeted that by upgrading to Koha version 3.6.4, Horowhenua Library Trust, the New Zealand library that sponsored the original development of Koha, is now running a version of Koha containing a contribution by the 14-year-old son of the Trust’s Head of Libraries, Joann Ransom. Chris added that when the original Koha first went live, it also contained a contribution by the son of the Head of Libraries at that time. Chris has also posted info on using Koha with citation managers Zotero, Endnote, and RefWorks. Upcoming Koha Events April General IRC Meeting The April general IRC meeting will be held on Wednesday, 4 April 2012. More info is here. KohaCon12 KohaCon12 will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, 5-7 June 2012. A hackfest will be held 9-11 June. This is a free conference for everyone interested in the Koha library system, which is Free and Open Source Software. There is no registration fee, but we will ask that attendees pre-register. KohaCon12 is the fifth KohaCon, following last year’s successful conference in India which brought together users and developers worldwide. 3.8 feature freeze

Hello koha-devel, 2 weeks ago I posted a mail about the release schedule, saying: March, 23th (1 month before the release) = feature freeze. April, 6th = strong feature freeze, string freeze April 20th = starting release process, everything frozen April 23th = release of Koha 3.8.0 The "feature freeze" was explained a little bit more on the wiki page: * No major enhancements will be included after this date for this release. By "major" I mean an enhancement that has many string change(s) and/or database change and/or introduce major changes in the core of Koha, with an important risk of side-effect. * other enhancements can still make their way into 3.8 * bugfixes can still make their way into 3.8 I couldn't push all what was passed QA on friday, so I pushed some patches today, without taking care of the feature freeze, that I declare for the end of today. Some have aked me what I would consider as a "major ENH", and what I would consider as a "not major enh" ? (that still can be pushed this or next week)? I've reviewed all the patches that are in "need signoff" or "signed off" status, and could find only 2 that fit the definition of "major ENH" * Bug 7710 - multiple holds per title * Bug 7818 - support DOM mode for Zebra indexing of bibliographic records Those bugs 1-are large 2-are related to the core of Koha 3- could have side effect So they will wait for 3.10. All other patches can still continue their way for Koha 3.8 For the following bugs i'll be double checking, because there is a risk of side effect that is not negligible, and I hesitated to put them in the previous list: * Bug 7420 - Add max fines to circulation matrix * Bug 7641 - Add ability to suspend reserves * Bug 7736 - Edifact QUOTE and ORDER functionality (the side effect of this one is negligible, but the patch is huge !) But if they have a strong signoff (or, better, 2) before the "strong feature freeze", I'll push them. Comment on some other bugs: Bug 7759 - Use Koha-Contrib-Tamil to update Zebra data in background => would be an alternative, not a replacement, so could push it.
