Probably nothing wrong, just new quirks, with either Ubuntu or Koha, but I do not need to be under pressure for the production upgrade. is not a 12.04 problem, is a problem with the specific file you're using with dpkg, which lists some files not available anymore on 12.04. As Mark said that file has already been patched and its waiting for inclusion on next release. That said, you can do a clean install using the instructions and ommiting that --set-selections step. And installing the dependencies by hand. As Mark also said. I also use the tarball in our deployment (38 instances on a single BIG server) without issues. Besides that i386 packages pull which I reported and has been solved. Anyway, I think we should go back to what your original problem was. Is your incremental indexing working? Have you properly set your sax parser? (I'm an experienced Koha user and forgot to check that step last time, having weird behavior) Regards To+

Officially supported OS versions

Koha Developers, As I try to get back in the swing of things after a long absence, I'm finding a lot of changes to Koha's dependencies to be particularly frustrating, as I need to add new package repositories or even upgrade my OS. This leads me to the question: What OS versions does Koha run on? This is both a descriptive question (what's true now) as well as a prescriptive one (what systems SHOULD Koha run on). I should think that Debian 6+ is a given. Any current Ubuntu LTS may also be appropriate, though the current situation has me unable to install a dependency on 10.04. In the past, I know that RedHat installs have been particularly vicious, and may not even be possible at this time. Having a list of supported OS versions would simplify the lives of the QA team, because we would only need to test those systems that we've agreed to support. If someone can get Koha working on another OS, more power to them, but I think it's reasonable for people with moderate technical skills to be able to get Koha up and running on recommended systems without too many steps. One implication of this would be that patches introducing dependencies not easily available on a supported system would be rejected or deferred until such time as they were easily available. So, for example, if a patch introduced a dependency that's packaged for Debian Wheezy, but not for Squeeze, it would not be added to Koha until Wheezy was released. koha-zebra-daemon not starting

Koha 3.8.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server (new install, full upgrade) Everything went well on install. Data from 3.6.1 "converted" to 3.8.3 when I opened the staff-admin page; zebra reindex went well for authorities, but failed for biblios first time around: 14:27:16-19/08 zebraidx(3357) [warn] zebra_lock_create fail fname=/var/lock/koha/zebradb/biblios/norm..LCK [No such file or directory] 14:27:16-19/08 zebraidx(3357) [warn] zebra_lock_create fail fname=/var/lock/koha/zebradb/biblios/shadow..LCK [No such file or directory] 14:27:16-19/08 zebraidx(3357) [fatal] Could not select database biblios errCode=109 but after a reboot, rebuild_zebra.pl -b -r -v -x reported nothing fatal (single warning about a register not found, no details); cron job running normally. But neither OPAC nor staff search functions are operational. The only anomaly that I've found so far is that /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon when run from the command line reports failure at line 73 (and does not create any error logs), but ps aux reports the daemon as running (well, "S+" -- sleep forground.) Anyone got any thoughts please? tnx and br - Paul

KOCT translatable, please translate !

Hello, The Koha Offline Circulation Tool, a firefox plugin, is now translatable. I just pushed a patch that add this feature and the translation to french. Dear Chris, Thanks for reply: 1. The case of the delivery failure is very strange: Message is sent from the legal gmail address, which is indicated in the process_message_queue.pl parameters (for example: process_message_queue.pl -u library(a)sciencelib.ge -p password -m LOGIN) and the failure message I get in the library(a)sciencelib.ge mailbox. What about host file, the host has not routable ip (192.168.1.xx ) - it's a test system for using gmail as mailing server. 2. What about backporting the mods I've changed process_message_queue.pl script as described in the Bug 5251. But in C4/Letters.pm module (for koha v3.0) I 've made the following changes: I've replaced the "sub _send_message_by_email()" by the one from the koha v3.2 and only after added described lines. I'm not sure that it's a correct action. Hie, I wonder if with the 'OpacHiddenItems' system preference, you can reproduce what's managed by 'hidelostitems' system preference. For example, if LOST values are 0,1,2,3 (0 meaning not lost), you can use in OpacHiddenItems : itemslost [1, 2, 3]. So can we imagine removing 'hidelostitems' ? However, it would appear that the Ubuntu/Debian apt-get *can* have ideas of its own and install bits of i386 code (presumably they're quite compatible, as it is either the 64-bit packages that install some of them, or apt-get installs them without advance warning; remember "i386|amd64" is not normally part of the command line.)
