Hi, I came across the new Perl 5.10 // defined-or operator in Koha code. (See below) The INSTALL doc says that we still run under Perl 5.8.8. Should we still refrain from using it? Running Koha 3.2 and 3.4

Hi all, I have seen a bunch of messages from chris_n saying that we need to test our patched on Koh 3.2.x as well as the current HEAD. So my question is how do you all do that? I have one local virtual machine with HEAD on it - I have no clue how to have both 3.2.x and HEAD. I tried copying my VM and while it looks like that went okay, I have no idea how to access that VM via the browser to actually test Koha. So I guess I'm looking for a tutorial and/or guidance on how to keep two installs up to date. Nicole

3.2.3 Release Schedule

Hi all, 3.2.3 is on track to be released on January 22, 2010, however, there is another important date between now and then which I wanted to point out. On January 15, 2011, 3.2.3 will enter a string freeze to facilitate finalization of translation updates. After this date the only patches introducing string changes which will be pushed for 3.2.3 will be those addressing blocker bugs or security issues. All others will be pushed to 3.2.4. Koha - Advanced cataloging search RFC on 001

In the wiki, it has that Howard County Library was proposing an RFC to allow searching on the 001. http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Advanced_cataloging_search_RFC In the old documentation that is on LibLime's site, it says "field 001 is a special field that you cannot map data to in Koha" We need to be able to link to that number. Does anyone have any ideas about how to do so, since we cannot seem to keep our current id's when migrating to Koha 3.2? FW: What should an empty authority subfield do?

Copying to dev list for additional comments. ________________________________ Referring a question in bug 5572 to the Koha list for further comments from the list. Bug 5572 introduces a refinement on authority merging. (Copying the change of an authority to the related biblio records.) Janusz (author of the patch) wrote: The original behavior in 3.0 was: when authority has been changed, then in the corresponding fields in the bibliographic records all the subfields of such fields controlled by authority will be dropped and created anew with only subfields which have a value in the authority. The new behavior is much better: in the bibliographic record only subfields which have a value in the authority_to (the new authority) will be changed. BUT what if there was a subfield present (with value) in authority (and in bibliographic) and the value is now deleted form authority? It will still stay in all bibliographic, whereas it should not. Hence my proposal: subfields not active in authority framework will be preserved; subfields active in the authority framework (i.e. controlled by this authority type) should be set as in the authority record - either have the value of corresponding subfield in authority or be empty. Marcel (tester of patch) commented: Tested your patch: it works as described. I see your point when you should clear a subfield at the authority side and you want to see the same at the biblio side. [How often would that happen?] However, if the subfield was already empty at the authority side and you update the auth record, do you also want to clear at that moment any possible info in that subfield at the biblio side? Does an empty authority subfield that is "not in the ignore tab" in the framework, really mean that that subfield should always be empty too at the biblio side? I am not sure about that; I will copy this comment to the Koha list for possible further discussion. What do you think? Thanks for further clarification.

3.2.x Maintenance Request

Hi all, Kudos to all of those who have been turning out bugfixes like grist mills of late! I have a request for both devs and those doing qa/sign-offs. Please verify that patches apply cleanly both to master and to 3.2.x prior to submitting. This is becoming more important as these two branches diverge. It will become imperative for all patches after the move to TT in a few weeks. I will do my best to send notices back to the patches list for those that do not apply to 3.2.x. QA session for BibLibre for Circ & members improvements

Hello, Today, I've been available on IRC for some QA on our Circ & Members branch. Thanks to Katrin that said she could not join and to owen that did some tests but could not go far because of an updatedatabase with XXX numbers. I had planned to be available from 20GMT to 22GMT, but it will be from 21GMT to 23GMT, sorry for the delay. Anyway, I did a lot of testings and have fixed some glitches in fines partial payements (patchs to be picked up by chris).
