Query by ISBN to Library of Congress' Z39.50

Hi, looks like copy cataloguing using ISBN fails when searching lx2.loc.gov:210/LCDB using Z39.50. Debugging Koha, I saw that it builds and sends a query like @attr 1=7 @attr 5=1 "9782406112143" that returns Number of hits: 0 while @attr 1=7 "9782406112143" returns Number of hits: 1 Try it in your terminal: $ yaz-client lx2.loc.gov:210/LCDB Connecting...OK. Sent initrequest. Connection accepted by v3 target. ID : 81 Name : Metaproxy/YAZ Version: 1.19.1/5.30.3 2af59bc45cf4508d5c84f350ee99804c4354b3b3 Options: search present scan namedResultSets Elapsed: 0.188871 Z> f @attr 1=7 @attr 5=1 "9782406112143" Sent searchRequest. Received SearchResponse. Search was a success. Number of hits: 0, setno 1 records returned: 0 Elapsed: 0.152497 Z> f @attr 1=7 "9782406112143" Sent searchRequest. Received SearchResponse. Search was a success. Number of hits: 1, setno 2 records returned: 0 Elapsed: 0.157806 Z> q I verified this error up to Koha 25.5. Server hvd.alma.exlibrisgroup.com:1921/01HVD_INST (auth required) and few others work correctly with or without @attr 5=1. This Z39.50 attribute is added by C4::Breeding::_bib_build_query. I'm not sure if we can avoid to add @attr 5=1 for any Z39.50 server. Your opinion? Thx. Bye. Stefano PS: A workaround is to use lx2.loc.gov:210/LCDB as SRU.

Invitation to participate in the 2025 International Library Automation Perceptions Survey

The 2025 edition of the International Library Automation Perceptions Survey is now open. For nearly two decades (since 2007), this annual study conducted through Library Technology Guides<https://librarytechnology.org/> has documented how libraries around the world view the systems they rely on to manage their collections and serve their communities. Your participation is vital in helping the profession understand how well current automation systems and discovery services meet real-world needs. As open source software supported both by the general community and by a variety of different service organizations, some special considerations apply to Koha. In the libraries.org directory, Koha is represented by a combination of the name Koha and the primary support organization involved. (For example Koha - Catalyst IT, Koha -- ByWater Solutions). Libraries relying entirely on community support or internal resources are represented as Koha - Independent. If there are any special support arrangements not covered by these conventions, just mention that in the comments area of the survey. In this way the survey will be able to reflect both the functionality of the Koha software and the quality of support provided. This model of representing libraries using Koha isn't perfect, but is a pragmatic approach that aggregates all users of Koha while also segregating the different support scenarios. Participation in this survey will help amplify the visibility of Koha among those interested in library automation. Why your response matters: * Amplify your library’s voice: Your input helps shape an objective picture of vendor performance, product quality, and support satisfaction. * Guide future decisions: The published results inform libraries considering migrations understand the performance of both proprietary and open source solutions. * Provide constructive feedback: Vendors use the findings to improve their products and services. Your candid insights make a difference. While the numeric ratings provide valuable benchmarking data, the narrative comments also provide essential perspectives. All comments are published in anonymized form to protect individual and institutional identities. If you have participated in past years, please consider responding again this year. Community positions for 26.05 cycle

Hi all, It’s that time again; we’re coming up to release time for 25.11, and that means picking the team for the 26.05 cycle! Please see the roles page at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Roles_for_26.05 and add your name to a role if you would like to propose volunteering for it. The team vote will take place on December 10th at the next development meeting. New people are more than welcome and it’s just as important to have non-developers helping to steer the ship as it is the developers! Some roles we’d like to draw your attention to: * Bug Wranglers <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Bug_wrangler> - We can always do with more bug wranglers! These people love to keep things tidy, and Bugzilla is always in need of your help. We need people to help manage ‘the list’, identify the duplicates, promote bugs to specialists, and find people to do sign-offs and testing. Everyone is invited to this party; we need you! This is a great first-time role to take on, and it makes a real difference to active community contributors’ lives! * Documentation Team <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Documentation_team> - The documentation team is a growing team that’s made great inroads into bringing Koha’s documentation up to date and ensuring we have a well-documented piece of software. There’s plenty more to do, and they’re always on the lookout for new contributors. The documentation team is a super-friendly group and would love to see you join them. What I’d also love to see are developers taking a look at the documentation team to support with infrastructure, approaches, or more technically challenging parts of Koha. * Wiki Curators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Wiki_team> - Koha’s wiki is bursting at the seams with good information, but we need your help to bring order to the chaos and keep improving the content. If you’ve got an interest in maintaining an area of the Wiki, helping identify out-of-date information, or categorising data, then this is a job for you. * Meeting Facilitators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Meeting_facilitators> - We have regular meetings in the community to discuss development progress, documentation tasks, and general community needs. It would be really helpful to have someone to help promote those meetings, keep them on track, and work on the minutes. Right now, these meetings are still run by me with help from the attendees, except for the documentation team, where the burden lies on the team managers. A new face in this role would really be appreciated! * Accessibility Advocate <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Accessibility_advocate> - In Koha, we really want to be open and accessible to all, but accessibility is an area that many of us are not as aware of as we should be. We’d like to have some people helping to promote best practices and report accessibility issues we might not be aware of. * Release Maintainer 1 <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Release_maintainer> - We are still looking for someone interested in doing release maintenance for the stable release. To be frank, this is not an easy job, but it is a very rewarding one. If you want to understand how things actually work behind the scenes and learn git the hard way, this is the role for you! If you’d like to volunteer for any of the roles, I am happy to chat about the ones I have experience in or point you to a person that is better suited to give you an overview. Kind regards, Paul

Two log entries generated when creating a patron (with extended patron attribute values)

Hi everyone, We've noticed that logging extended patron attributes (introduced in https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=26744) has resulted in 2 action log entries when patrons are created (with extended attribute values). We have logged a bug report for this: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=41244 We would value hearing from others in the community if you agree that this is a bug and that only one CREATE entry should be logged? Also, what are people's views on the best approach for fixing this?
