he panui Koha 11 March 2003 Hello, it's time again for another of my slightly irregular newsletters. There are a couple of things I'd like to let everyone know about and this seems the best way to do it. First, we've got a couple of changes to the management group: - Ingrid Lacis has agreed to take on the role of QA/Testing for us. She'll be heading up an effort to create tests to help us develop a better, faster, more error-free Koha going forward. Please join me in wishing her welcome and lending your support to this important initiative. - With his new job, Nicholas Rososco (who wears many hats for Koha) is going to be stepping down as the Translation Manager as soon as a suitable replacement is found. Nick will continue on as our Documentation Manager. If you're interested in getting deeply involved in the translation, localization, etc. effort, please drop me an email. - With the 2.0 series just around the corner, we're starting to talk about 2.1/2.2. One of the key pieces of making this work is to have someone in the driver's seat. Steve Tonnesen has graciously accepted this position. Another important piece of the 2.1/2.2 puzzle is building a solid vision for Koha's future. One place I'd like this to happen is on the koha2010 mailing list. This list is intended to be a place where non-technical discussion about features, enhancements, and the like can occur. As ideas take shape on this list, they can be moved over to the koha-devel mailing list for technical discussion about how to implement them. More information about the mailinglist is available from http://www.kohalabs.com/projects/koha2010/mail.html (including subscription info). On a different front, work is moving along on a Win32 Koha installer. At this point you can get a working Koha system set up on a windows system if you can get perl, apache, and mysql there. A new version of the installer may take care of these for you as well. Paul is hard at work on the 2.0 series, and we hope to see a 1.9.1 release quite soon. I've recently posted a request for developers to help clean up the bug database at bugs.koha.org -- if you've noticed a problem with Koha, please submit a bug report at that web page. We'd really like to get all of the bugs squashed. (BTW, one squashed and one that seems to have been squashed already ... and in under 30 minutes) And, as one last request for this newsletter, If you're currently using, migrating to, or testing Koha please add yourself to the koha users list at http://www.saas.nsw.edu.au/wiki/index.php?page=KohaUsers (editing this page is easy to do). there are currently 50 bug/enhancement reports against 1.3.2/cvs/unspecified (see http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&bug_status… for details) and there are 17 against various 1.2 releases (see http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&bug_status… for details). I'd like to try to clean up our bug database as we get ready for the 2.0 release. Here's how I think we can do this: Would someone at katipo please create 1.9.1 and 2.0.0 versions in the bugs DB? I'd like people to try to 'adopt a bug' -- the bugs listed against 1.2.X, 1.3.2, or 'unspecified' versions should be checked to see if they exist in the current cvs version. If they do, please change the version to 'cvs'. the bugs listed against the 'cvs' version should be checked to see if they still exist. If they do, please do a quick check of the information in the bug and edit any anomolies you find. Hi Roberto, 1st, it's better to ask on koha-devel list, as others maybe interested by the question and the answer. 2nd your question is not very clear. what are you talking about ? a row missing in the DB creation ? a problem in the MARC21 parameters table ? a problem when using koha ? If it's using koha, then I don't understand at all : ambrose added some javascript that checks, when a tag is "mandatory" that a at least one subfield is filled. Using MARC::Record to insert MARC data into MySQL tables

I hoping that within a couple of days we will have the item data for our collections loaded into the 945, 946, and 949 fields of our MARC records, and then we would like to run a Perl script which will go through each of our MARC records and extract and insert into the Koha MySQL tables biblio, biblioitems, and items all of the data needed to run version 1.9.0. Has anyone developed such a script at this point or give me an idea of what the commands would look like to accomplish this? Larry Currie -- Lawrence W. It's been a while since there's been any news of developments in the Koha code. Does anybody know if there's been anything done lately to move Koha away from 1.9.0 and closer to 2.0? CVS install of koha

some people wanted to know how i installed a "true cvs" version of koha. I mean there a version not installed with "buildrelease/installer.pl" here is the trick : i use virtual hosts. my cvs is in */home/paul/koha.dev/koha.* my apache vhost file looks like : <VirtualHost 127.0.0.4> DocumentRoot /home/paul/koha.dev/koha/koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/paul/koha.dev/koha/ ErrorLog logs/koha_error.log SetEnv PERL5LIB /home/paul/koha.dev/koha </VirtualHost> The DocumentRoot points directly to the intranet templates. It means the koha-html is no more used. That's what i want => i can see what is not yet templated. The SetEnv PERL5LIB points to the koha cvs directory, thus use C4::Biblio is found in PERL5LIB/C4/Biblio.pm ! Hope this helps. common default theme icons

Hi, I just uploaded some very nice icons that should be used to improve the look of koha. Those icons should be self explanatory : 1downarrow.png => dig, or "more detailled information" 1leftarrow.png => previous page 1rightarrow.png => next page 1uparrow.png => "less detailled information" 2downarrow.png => "lowest information" 2leftarrow.png => 1st page 2rightarrow.png => last page 2uparrow.png => top information edittrash.png => delete filefind.png => find fileimport.png => import filenew.png => add fileopen.png => edit fileprint.png => print gohome.png => home Those icons are located in the /default/images/ directory, as they are the same for every language. for techies : i've picked icons from a kde icon set. and didn't change any name.
