Yes, a windows server solution is great as many libraries get free servers and software from bother BILL under the gates grant. I think this is great! We (apparently) have some issues with installer.pl not really doing error reporting (ie, if it fails on dir creates, and apparently it won't notice if mysql isn't there). I realize the weekend is just starting, but it doesn't really seem "safe" yet for anyone with a view to using it as a production tool. I still am very fond of the idea of it, and most gratified Mike got it to where it is, but it apparently needs a little tune up -- Steve is going to take a look at it Monday, hopefully. Thoughts? Anyone? Nick

Found a couple of problems with installer.pl 1. Doesn't check if mysql server is available 2. Fails to create missing directories (ie if you specify /usr/share/koha/opac as the opac directory, it won't create /usr/share/koha before attempting to create /usr/share/koha/opac). 3. Adds two new VirtualHost sections to httpd.conf every time it runs. I'll play with this some more on Monday. I'm off for the weekend now. Steve.

Proposed addition to install document Z3950 Client The Z3950 Client requires a separate daemon process to be running to process the queue that is generated through the web page. This daemon is not automatically installed by the Koha installer due to the widely varying systems for starting up daemons. A script is included for starting up this daemon in: ./intranet-cgi/acqui.simple/z3950-daemon-launch.sh You will need to edit this script to set the "RunAsUser" variable to the user that your web server runs as, and the KohaDir variable to the location of your acqui.simple directory. The startmenu() function was being called without the 'catalogue' parameter. This fix is _NOT_ in the 1.2.1 release candidate! I'm not sure about request.pl, as not enough of the error log is included above to determine what the error was with request.pl. Shane, can you pass along a few more lines before the one that says "Premature end of script headers: /home/httpd/koha/cgi-bin/request.pl"? request.pl suffered from the same startmenu() problem as modbib.pl, so it is likely that it is the same problem, and it was also fixed by me yesterday. This fix is also _NOT_ in the 1.2.1 release candidate. Steve.

There is a separate daemon process that has to run to process the Z3950 queries. I did this because Z3950 queries can take a considerable amount of time, and it also allows multiple queries to run in parallel. The Koha installer does not set up any init scripts to run this process yet, although a launcher exists. Try running the z3950-daemon-launch.sh script in the: /intranet-cgi/acqui.simple/ directory. suggestion for 1.2.2 version...

I'm working to merge rel-1-2 and main branch, and am not happy. It's really a hard and bad job. I'm in addorder.pl for instance. And i realise some API changed and some didn't. For example, newbiblio need a hash, while modbiblio still needs 5 vars, separated by "," I think in 1.2.2 version, we had better change one to have only 1 method, as it's important to have a clear method that can be memorized. Note in main trunk, both newbiblio and modbiblio use the hash :-\\\\ I don't correct the rel-1-2 to avoid introducing a bug in 1.2.2, but i think our 1.2 release manager should take a look at this problem for 1.2.3... -- Paul
