Hello, atm, the virtual shelves on OPAC are accessible only for identified users. I think it would be more useful to have public lists available to everyone. Your opinion ? Trouble-maker alert: Names of System Prefs

As you may know, I'm new to the team, and as such have been doing a lot of poking at Koha from a librarian's perspective. I've submitted a few bugs and enhancements, but this one requires more than a simple enhancement request, this one needs the backing of a bunch of developers ;) - so here comes the trouble-maker part. >From a first time user and librarian's perspective, the names of some of the system prefs are way too confusing. The prime example (at least that I've found so are) is under OPAC Features and is titled 'reviewson' This preference controls the patrons 'Comments' that appear in the OPAC. Now, how is the average librarian or even the systems librarian supposed to know that 'reviewson' turns on commenting? Shouldn't it be 'commentson'? My suggestion is either a renaming of system prefs (with librarian or usability expert input) or a way to change the way these labels are displayed to the user. Meaning the system can see 'reviewson' but I see 'CommentsOn'. I'm sure there are many others like this - I just haven't gotten to them yet - so I'm suggesting us discussing changing these in some way to improve the user experience and overall usability of the staff client in Koha. Issue/Return bug

Hi All I found a rather serious bug in 2.2.9. During issuing or terurning, the holding branch data disappears from the items table. I suppose it happens in the process of updating the lastseen data or something. Can anyone please give me directions where to start looking to fix this, or maybe someone has a fix? Thanks!

Notice/Status Trigger question

Hi all, Can someone explain how Koha currently handles this situation: - A schedule for overdue notices is set in "Notice/Status Trigger" - Some borrowers do not have an email defined in their patron account. What happens to the notice that has been triggered? I know that some kind of excel file is sent to sys admin (as defined in Koha), but don't understand what that Excel file contains. I'd be most grateful for an answer, as I'm working on a Koha manual. Thanks! --tina -- Tina N. Hi all: Seems to exist a bypass of koha Carp handler to CGI::Carp, all in really 8 bits of ASCII code, may I think very difficult to find, and may I think very very prone to get cached by by its particular sense of inexistence. The 308 bytes of insultant and uncompressed solution was found miserably chunking on to produce a magnificient *lowest codelines/minutes ratio ever seen*. A cheers for the world of the 5/10/some minutes solution... They really make us feel better in disguise. Once, in five minutes, I was able to press on button and take notice. Hello, i'm translating the syspref added this week, and have found some that are only defined, and not used in the code : - WebBasedSelfCheck - staffClientBaseURL - minPasswordLength - noItemTypeImages - noOPACHolds (+ kados said, and he was right, that setting "no" to a "noXXXX" parameter means "XXXX", so we should probably rename this syspref to something "positive") - emailLibrarianWhenHoldIsPlaced - holdCancelLength - libraryAddress - finesMode (this one is used, but only in C4/SIP/Patron.pm, which is, afaik, specific & not production ready - globalDueDate - itemBarcodeInputFilter - singleBranchMode - URLLinkText - noOPACUserLogin (which would be a duplicate of opacuserlogin iiuc + kados said, and he was right, that setting "no" to a "noXXXX" parameter means "XXXX", so we should probably rename this syspref to something "positive") - OPACDisplayExtendedSubInfo - OPACViewOthersSuggestions - OPACURLOpenInNewWindow - OPACUserCSS (what does this one mean ? Has the default been fixed in 2.2.9 for Issue Rules?

Dear List-Colleagues: The user guide states that this feature is currently broken but is to be fixed soon. Well, we are installing 2.2.9 - has it been fixed - I have not been able to find a reference anywhere on the net about this. Koha 2.2.9: Different Loan Rules Between Branches...

Dear List-Colleagues: We are working our way through a Koha 2.2.9 install. Our current question is this: "If we have different branches, is it possible to set up different copies of the same title to have different issuing rules?" For example, a small library open two days a week loans videos for a one week period, whereas the main branch open 6 days per week, loans for 2 day only, can this scenario be accommodated by Koha? If Koha, in its current incarnation, cannot accommodate this, where would we look to do our own mods to the scripts and enable this? Best, Petrus Hanover Public Library Ontario Canada
