This bug refers to the Z39.50 "reservoir" which cannot be [easily] emptied. A quick look in MySQL shows that we have: mysql> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM import_records; +----------+ | COUNT(*) | +----------+ | 148357 | +----------+ 1 row in set (0.01 sec) and the exact same in import_biblios (none in either import_items or import_record_matches) -- this relates to 29,410 valid biblios in our catalogue. mysql> SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE 'import_records'; tells me that this table has a Data_length of 1040508672 or just over 1 Gbyte. Is there a downside to deleting this data? [TRUNCATE TABLE import_records; same for import_biblios] *Limited* testing in my sandbox has shown no downside or side effects. The upside is a measurable improvement in the search time from koha-admin/cgi-bin/koha/cataloguing/addbooks.pl, and speed/size improvements for backups. My cataloguers tell me that they never use the "reservoir" as it only corresponds to historical data from previous multi-Z39.50 server searches from which they already selected the "best fit" and thought that they had discarded the rest. As an aside, I'd be curious to know how other libraries use this data. Thanks and best regards, Paul

Use rfid with Koha

Dear Friends I am very much new to koha and need to implement Rfid reader for circulation .First i install Koha on Ubanto. The first problem is how to access koha from windows IE. As its shows " IT works ....." message. When i try to run sudo command it ask for password which i dont know. Second what i am planing is to add rfid reader on widws based terminal as all the drivers and dll are complied in C#. Have somebody this this directly in koha. Help seeker

I have now upgraded to 3.1.2 but that did not help the issue. GSoC?

Hi, Following up on some discussion on #koha, I'd like to raise the question of whether we want to consider putting in an application for the Google Summer of Code [1] this year. What's GSoC? Very briefly, it's effectively an internship program where Google will pay college and university students to work on F/OSS projects. One of the overall goals is to help educate students, both in the technical matters of contributing software to a real project and the social matters of interacting productively with an open source community. Ideally, a GSoC student would end their experience ready and willing to continue to participate in F/OSS projects. Secondarily, we may get some cool and useful code to add to Koha. If Koha were to apply, we would be expected to provide the following: - a list of project ideas that would be beneficial to Koha and educational for the students - mentors willing to devote a fair amount of time between June and September guiding students through their projects - an "organization admin" or two to help the mentors and students Being a mentor is a serious commitment. The ideal mentor would be an active developer, familiar with the codebase and expert in at least some of it, willing to teach, willing to help make sure that student participates openly in the community, and able to devote a fair amount of time to work with his or her student during the summer. I encourage folks to read the GSoC document carefully, then answer the following questions: - Is GSoC something we want to participate in? - If so, are there enough folks willing and able to act as mentors?
