labels/label-item-search.pl hardcode queries that only work with Zebra

Hello all! Seems I'm diving into ES these days. We have an issue with labels/label-item-search.pl which uses the search engine to find items, but the code hardcodes (acqdate,ge:2022-02-17) Which the ES's build_query_compat() method doesn't handle. ES's index is date-of-acquisition. The right way to solve this would be to fix the query parser, but that's a tall task for me. Another way would be for me to cheat, if only I knew what form the proper query would look like in ES. Finally, it seems to me this could be done using database queries, much simpler. Input, comments and suggestions welcomed. Philippe

Hi Philippe, Your second query appears to be correct. Is it possible that one of the "expropriation" records is suppressed in the the OPAC? Try searching for "title:expropriation AND suppress:true" (without QueryAutoTruncate). It's possible to automatically add parentheses to both the query and the limits by editing the Koha/SearchEngine/Elasticsearch/QueryBuilder.pm file. After "$search_param_query_str = join( ' ', $self->_create_query_string(@search_params) );" add: if ($search_param_query_str) { $search_param_query_str = "($search_param_query_str)"; } my $search_param_limits_str = $self->_join_queries( $self->_convert_index_strings(@$limits) ); if ($search_param_limits_str) { $search_param_limits_str = "($search_param_limits_str)"; } And then change the "$query_str" to: $query_str = join( ' AND ', $search_param_query_str || (), $search_param_limits_str || () ); Hopefully that will produce the correct results. I played with React

Hi devs, I wanted to let you know that I played a bit with React the last couple of days and I published my work on Bug 30160 - Rewrite cities admin view in React If you have some experience with React I would like to get your opinion on this code. Feel free to test the patch and catch bugs if you are curious how it could work. This patch is for discussion (do we want that, do we want an alternative, do we want to keep our old school code, etc?) and a follow-up of a bug report I wrote 5 years ago but got dropped (bug 14974). Zebra and case sensitivity...

Hi all, I was trying to query Zebra in a case sensitive way, and it led me to some conflicting information. Indexdata say @case 1 is "case sensitive" while Koha says @case 1 is "case insensitive". Based off my searching, I'd say "@case 1" is definitely case sensitive, because Koha uses @case 0, and it is case insensitive. Anyway, I don't really have any comments beyond that. I think it would be great to update some of the underlying code in the staff interface whilst the look-and-feel Is updated in this great project initiated by Paul & co.. E.g. it would be a great opportunity to set ID and CLASS markers on all the GUI HTML-components. And perhaps also name them in a consistent way throughout the Koha system.. Thanks Ola Andersson

Hi, I don't know if it's really in the scope of the interface redesign but with some other members of the French Koha user group, we thought that there are possible enhancements for the tables and the columns : - have systematic filters above the table - be able to work on all the tables in the staff interface through the administrations -> table settings - be able to choose the place of a column (first, third, last..) (with a drag and drop system would be cool) - have a better understanding of the duration of the change when you choose to hide / display a column on a specific page (does it last only the time you are in the page or during the session ?) I hope that these ideas could be considered. Staff interface redesign: Update

As Paul announced in December (https://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2021-December/046841.…) Biblibre is sponsoring a refresh of the staff interface design. They have hired a graphic designer, Thibaud Petit, to create some proposals, and will have an intern starting in February who will be able to devote six months to assisting in the implementation. Yesterday we had our first meeting: Paul, me, Thibaud, Mark Gavillet of PTFS-Europe, Lucas Gass of ByWater Solutions, and Brooke Johnson, friend of Koha. We discussed the possibilities and the difficulties involved in the task and talked about the possible scope of the changes. Some major points: - Style can be "easily" affected by global CSS changes. We've done this before, 10 years ago (!) with Bug 7979, https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7979 - The scope of other changes will be limited by the difficulty involved in making global changes to the many staff interface templates. The opportunity is there to implement some global changes via global includes, e.g. header, footer, sidebar menus. - I hope that we can have an upgrade to jQuery before the implementation starts, and an upgrade to Bootstrap either before or as part of the redesign. - We have not instructed Thibaud to limit his proposals to the green color scheme we currently associate with Koha. We hope to review some design proposals in two weeks on February first. This means it's the right time to head over to the translation platform: https://translate.koha-community.org/projects/ Reminder: if you add or change a translation in version 19.11, then you must also copy it to 20.11, 21.05 and 21.11.
