Deploying Koha at scale

Hi all, For a long time, I've been thinking about how Koha could scale better, and I'm wondering what other people are thinking about this topic. I think Mengu is probably the best expert on this topic that we have on Earth, so especially curious about his input. It's relatively easy to add more Apache web servers, more MySQL nodes, and more Elasticsearch nodes. but the same might not be said for other parts of Koha like the following: 1. Zebra a. In theory, you could load balance queries to a cluster of Zebra listeners b. But indexing updates to many Zebra databases could be tricky (I don't know if Zebra's database can support many readers). I suppose you could alter rebuild_zebra.pl to update multiple databases in a variety of different ways. I imagine Mengu could speak to this, as I recall him talking once about needing to do work to make Zebra scale? 2. I'm not familiar enough with the SIP server to say a. Off the top of my head, I think a TCP load balancer would be good enough here 3. Z3950 Responder? a. I'm not familiar with this daemon 4. What about cronjobs? Only 1 instance should execute the cronjobs. a. I suppose a person could disable cronjobs on all Koha nodes except for 1? It wouldn't be very robust in terms of availability but it would technically work most of the time. Any other thoughts? Improving Koha Templating

Hi all, I was looking at a conversation between Martin and Owen about Martin's accessibility work and Owen's upgrade to Bootstrap 4 work, and I'm wondering if this would be a good opportunity to use Template::Toolkit's WRAPPER directive: http://template-toolkit.org/docs/manual/Directives.html#section_WRAPPER Rather than using INCLUDE for headers and footers in each OPAC template, we could handle all that in a WRAPPER. I've used the WRAPPER directive in other projects, and it makes things much simpler. I'm assuming that the "main content" (for Martin's accessibility work) should be whatever is wrapped by the WRAPPER, although perhaps I don't 100% understand what is required there. Even if it's not useful for Martin, I imagine it could make things easier for Owen when working on the Bootstrap 4 upgrade? The WRAPPER directive should reduce boilerplate, which should make it easier to make whole of Koha changes. Feedback on Bug 25705 - Viewing all serials issues should not require serials permissions

Hi all, I'm hoping some folk can provide some feedback on https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=25705. Basically, an OPAC user can see more serials issue data than a Staff Client user (without serials permissions), and that doesn't seem right and should be remedied. I suppose it's debatable whether this is a bug or an enhancement, as I think the solution is probably to refactor a serials template and create a new serials-issues script in the catalogue module. That said, an alternative could be to change the serial issue table in the "Subscriptions" page on the detail page to use AJAX. We could show the X latest issues, but then allow users to recall the full history while staying on the detail page. We could add a REST API endpoint for this. which could actually be used by both the Staff Client and the OPAC. Actually, I'm now inclined to go with that latter option. No translation updates on 19.11.x since 19.11.03?

Hi, Just wondering why there were no translation updates since the 19.11.03 release of the 19.11.x branch while there were updates on 19.05.x for every release including 19.05.11? Koha 20.05.00 Released

Hello Everyone, It is with great pleasure I am able to announce the release of Koha 20.05, a major release of the Koha open source integrated library system. This release includes 13 new features, 275 enhancements, 592 bugfixes. Error updating database

Today I could not get into my koha, and sended me to the installer. Found out that the database needed updating. Database update needed, redirecting to to Installer. Database is 19.1106000 and Koha is 20.0500000 When trying to run the installer got this message Software error: Can't locate object method "structured_requirements_for_module" via package "CPAN::Meta::Requirements" at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Installer/PerlModules.pm line 66. Hello, I'm Stéphane Delaune (aka reiveune) from BibLibre I am the developer of the Perl module MARC::Transform ( https://metacpan.org/pod/MARC::Transform ), this module is in version 0.003008 since april but, in debian.koha-community.org, the version is only 0.003006 that is 5 years old (2 versions late, including a bugfix) I would like to know if someone is able to update this package in debian.koha-community.org (and in https://packages.qa.debian.org/libm/libmarc-transform-perl.html on which the version is 0.003007) thank you in advance Stéphane Delaune
