Multi language item types, branch names, sysprefs value, authorised values, and permission descriptions

Hello Jonathan, Last year with Koha 3.22 came a nice feature to enable Koha libraries to add another description in another language to the following policies' names: item types, branch names, sysprefs value, authorised values, and permission descriptions Enabling this translation feature was implemented with item types description only. When we asked then about the other policies, it was told then that they will follow in upcoming releases. Koha 16.xx then came out, with all its subsequent major/ minor releases following, and this feature do not seem to be placed in the development list to be extended to other policies as promised. I just wonder if we should expect the extension of this feature to enable multi language support of other policies' names sometime soon. Thanks, Massoud M. AlShareef KnowledgeWare

Hi devs, Bug 18242 fixes what could be a critical bug in some conditions. I have submitted 2 different solutions. The bug has been raised recently by several people on bug 18185 but affects all versions of Koha. Please take a look ASAP and discuss on the bug report. Cheers, Jonathan

Two bugs (Lists and Authorities)

Hi guys, Just wanted to ask some specific attention for two bugs: Bug 9988 Leave larger authority merges to merge_authorities cronjob (pref AuthorityMergeLimit) https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=9988 Part of the authority merge omnibus. Bug 18228 Make list permissions easier to use/understand https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18228 This patch moves the three separate Allow/Don't allow checkboxes for lists into one Combo: Nobody/Owner/Anyone who sees the list No more distinction between add and delete, or delete own and delete other. Sending patches to the manual

Is Nicole still the documentation manager? The 16.11 release notes say so but I thought Chris C had a role there now? Function for multivaluated syspref

Hi, Is there any function to check if a value is checked in a multivaluated syspref ? I don't see any and the few multivaluated function I saw seem using long template line code to do this simple thing. Could this be a good idea to write one ? Baptiste

Hi from Oslo, and C4::Auth

Hi, I believe most of you met me on IRC as "oha", for the others I'm a software developer working at Deichman library here in Oslo: Nice to meet you all! In the last week, I had a look at C4::Auth, and how the whole authentication, authorization and session management works. I came up with a little prototype which replace most of C4::Auth, CGI and Session with something I believe simpler and easier to extend. right now, it doesn't support anything but simple authentication. But most of the work done to integrate with CAS or Shib should be easily refactored in (I don't have a test environment for that, and I know too little to help much) To simplify the transition, I'm developing it without changing anything on the common koha code. IOW if you run it via apache it will behave like it was in the past, but if you are in plack and want to check it out, you just have to enable the new Koha::Middleware::Session and the new system will just "magically" replace the old one. Hopefully the transition won't be long and we can then refactor the rest of the code and drop the magic-ness. the code is now divided in 2 parts: there is an abstract Koha::Session with implementations for memcache, mysql and memory only (the last one is not really useful when forking) there is also a Koha::Auth which support modules for different auth systems, right now only simple authentication is supported. Koha::Auth also provide templating (this should be refactored again later, probably, but... baby steps for now) and it works more like an Auth Environment for every users. on my test box it seems to be working fine, but I'm positive I have missed few bits here and there. I will definitely need some feedback and help to finish the design for different auth modules, so if you are currently using one and you are willing to help, please let me know. more in general, would be nice to know what do you think about it, you can find a WIP branch here: https://github.com/digibib/Koha/tree/auth_session_refactor TIA Francesco
