Two french libraries have partially sponsored the work. One of them is now live with Koha/solR : the Limoges public library. The OPAC can be seen here: http://catalogue.bm-limoges.fr If you search for something (in french please ;-) ), like “histoire contemporaine”, you’ll see some changes in the facets : what is “faceted” is chosen by the library through the Koha admin module. On the right of each facet the number of records using this facet is displayed (and is correct). Other new features in Koha with solR search engine can be seen only in the admin interface, or when digging the code. For example you can define the indexes through the admin module (no need to update cryptic configuration files) If you want to have a look at the code, you can see the code in our solr branch: http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koha;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/dev/solr Note it’s based on HTML::Template, not Template::Toolkit. Also note that Zebra support is broken, but the code should be modular enough to have it reintroduced. We thought/found it was better to almost completely rewrite the search engine part to make it modular than to try to add solR support over zebra-related code. When will it be available in official Koha? As soon as possible. Can we estimate how much time? It won’t be in 3.6 probably, it’s too much work. So you’ll have to wait for the 2012-april or even the 2012-oct version. Koha Community New Spanish Community Site by Tomás Cohen Arazi We are pleased to announce the availability of the Spanish-speaking community’s Koha portal. You will find in it the translated official announcements and several resources and news related to the Spanish-speaking Koha community. We hope to get your feedback and support to make this site full of relevant information for the community. The address: http://es.koha-community.org Halfway to Koha 3.6 by Chris Cormack We have hit the halfway mark, for the release of the 3.6.0 feature release. 3.4.3 was just released. I just had a thought, that perhaps there are some people who aren’t sure how releases for Koha work. So I’ll do a brief summary. We work on a time based release cycle. All code is developed in the open, from multiple developers all around the world. This code is separated into adding new features, and fixing bugs. New features are released ever six months, these are the x.x.0 releases, (3.2.0, 3.4.0, 3.6.0 etc). But every month we release a bugfix release also, these are the 3.4.1, 3.4.2 etc releases. So 3.4.0 was release April 22, 3.6.0 will be release October 22. 3.4.3 will be released July 22. So the 22nd of each month is an important date in the Koha world. Read more. The situation of the CIRC module

Hi to all, a library has asked us a develop about circolation in Koha. They want: -- Automatic check-in after an hold if the book is avaible and a mial to user with the message 'Go to pickup the book'. -- A mail to user is the book is on loan after an hold. -- Automatic renews (if there aren't holds), max 3. -- Check-out with a self-check out station -- When a book with an hold returns, automticaly the system does check-in and sends a mail to the user with the message 'Go to pickup the book'. In fact they want an automatic CIRC library, leand the books without a librarian. I see the RFCs about circulation, the Biblibre enhancements. I want to know the situation at SQL level To implement this develop I need a more robust table about holds, I probably need to add fields to table tmp_holdsqueue. merge authorities

Hi all, After suggestions of Janus and Frere Sebastien, I revised the patch for bug 6094 (ModAuthority fix). This patch now creates records in a new need_merge_authorities table when the pref dontmerge is set to Do not automatically update biblios. The cron job merge_authority.pl picks them up, applies the merge and marks the records as done (comparable with zebraqueue). If the pref dontmerge is Do automatically update, the table is just empty. Advantage of this approach: We do no longer need to discuss where to place the files for merging authorities. All permission and security issues around that are eliminated too. File organisation within release tarball

Dear all, Have some questions on naming of the release tarball, and organisation of files within it. I am not sure if this has been discussed before; at least, have not come across a discussion in the archives. 1. A really math question. Why does a file named koha-3.04.02.tar.gz extract to "koha-3.4.02"?? Did I get my math wrong? On a related note, when I run koha_perl_deps.pl, I am told that Graphics::Magick is only 1.3.12, while the required version is 1.3.5. This is with 3.4.2. 2. Am I the only one to feel that files are really scattered within the source directory (the one we get when we extract the tarball)?? 2.1 For a start, why not move al those INSTALL* files into a INSTALL directory within the source directory? 2.2 In the installed directory (the default location - /usr/share/koha), rebuild_zebra.pl is not really a migration tool. At least, it currently is not. Time to move rebuild_zebra.pl to bin/cronjobs? >From what I have read about it, bin/maintenance/remove_items_from_biblioitems.pl is a migration tool. Or have I understood it wrongly? (INSTALL wrongly mentions its location as misc/maintenance/. The correct location ought to be bin/maintenance/ . -- Mahesh T. Pai ||

This patch suits both master and 3.4.x, and would improve the running of packages on Ubuntu in particular. Newbie's Question on Translation

Hi Mates, I just do not find tutorial/how to translate koha-community.org site. I did ask google, but there was no good answer nor on koha-community.org pages. I'd like to provide a Bahasa Indonesia[0] page of koha-community.org as well as our friend has already done on Spanish[1]. AFAIK. It seems like I have to build on dedicated server like Tomas did[2]. Am i wrong? Or Could it be easier to just using Wordpress tools[3]? Thanks in advance.
