bug in marc_subfield_structure table definition?

I would file a bug, but since I'm too new here I preferred to ask before. Current marc_subfield_structure table definition looks like this: CREATE TABLE `marc_subfield_structure` ( ... `authorised_value` varchar(20) default NULL, ...); That column points to 'category' in authorised_values table, which is defined like this: CREATE TABLE `authorised_values` ( ... `category` varchar(10) NOT NULL default '', ...); Two questions and a possible digression: Q1. Shouldn't both be equal? Q2. Shouldn't authorised_value in marc_subfield_structure be a foreign key referencing category on authorised_values table? The quick solution for this is to make authorised_value a varchar(10) in marc_subfield_structure, since all other tables pointing to authorised_values.category use that. Making it also a foreign key would be desirable to add database consistency. Should I file a bug or I'm seeing this in a wrong way? Installing Koha on a Sun Server?

Koha print circulation slips

Koha - problem with searches/zebra indexing in second instance

All, We created a second instance of Koha using the instructions at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Installing_Multiple_Instances_of_Koha We dumped the data from our original instance and then reloaded it into the koha_test instance. Generating transactions

Dearest Koha developers! We have recently started a process of testing and evaluating Koha in the perspective of a fairly large public library, with a number of different branches and departments. This has proven to be a fairly timeconsuming task, as we - amongst other things - need to test all the modules and compare it to the functionality of our current ILS :) After importing our records (Normarc), we need to do a demo of the different modules. Thus we are in desperate need of a script to generate users (approx 500.000) and transactions (3-4 millions) over a period of time (4-5 years). We have had no luck searching for a script like this. I think the proper word to describe my word "transactions" with is circulations (pardon my somewhat Norwegian-English use of terms). We need to generate loans and submissions, and preferably also some other status changes (fex lost, not in place, ordered, reminder sent). We have some pretty heavy requirements as to generating statistics. In order to calm the ones working with this, we need to be able to do a convincing demo :) How did you transfer your circulation history? Hello, Thank you Chris, John and Magnus for your reply! :) Surely the best result would be if we could load our transaction data into Koha. This does however sound like a fairly comprehensive task, and would more or less look like a complete migration. That is not what we want at this moment. Mainly because we do not have access to the data, but they are also connected with an intricate privacy policy. It is not a trivial - or cheap - thing for us to get an export of the transaction data. As you understand; dummydata is still preferable. But I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up for a script like the one I described... :( It would be very interesting to know if there exists a step-by-step manual for migrating transaction data. What kind of format (or protocol) is used to import this kind of data into Koha? -AnneLena- _______________________________________________ Hi Anne-Lenna: Years ago we tried to write such a script but it was much more complicated than we expected. ?For proof of concepts and demo purposes why not just load, from your current ILS, your transaction data into Koha? ?You will have to learn how to do this anyway so why not work out the transaction transfer now. Master is currently unstable

Hi All I have merged the Template::Toolkit changes into master. Anyone running from master in production is advised not to update at the moment. Anyone else please do and report any bugs you find. If you want to sign off on old patches, I have pushed new/old_templates. I will endeavour to keep it up to date. I have also tagged the last commit before the merge, the tag is html_template_pro I have also gpg signed it, as I will be doing for any tags I make. MARC21 Authority DOM indexing

Good morning. I just wrote a follow-up patch for bug 3072, to fix authority searching now that Heading-Main is used again. The two files I changed are etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/authorities/authority-koha-indexdefs.xml and etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/authorities/authority-zebra-indexdefs.xsl This is all well and good, but I can find no reference to the first file, authority-koha-indexdefs (sadly I discovered this *after* I had spent the time editing it). Does anyone know A) why we have it and B) why we shouldn't just remove it so that other people don't get confused and spend their time editing an unused file? conan's introduction

Hi everybody, I'm Fernando Canizo, aka conan, from Argentina. Some might have see me semi-lurking at #koha irc channel. I've been hired by the SID (http://sid.uncu.edu.ar/) which depends on UNCuyo (http://www.uncu.edu.ar/) to implement koha for the 22 libraries dependent on UNCuyo and to provide modifications requested by librarians as they come up, with the idea in mind of trying to bring them upstream if they worth it. I'm still shaking from the shock of meeting koha, MARC21, and other behemoths alike, also I'm relearning Perl, language I swore to forget some years ago. I haven't introduced myself yet because I'm currently dealing with implementation, and I think I'll be on that for some time still.
