cron job for loading pictures or better option

I have 53,000 students and a windows server in another building that I have a fileshare to. What would be the recommended way to copy those files over and load them into Koha? I have tried scp * but the problem is that it only copies what 2000 at a time and then dies. I'm a librarian looking for an easy solution without lots of programming. So here was my thought: build a cron first make the fileshare connection then issue several scp statements to copy the files over to the local server then issue the command to batch load them I have a command line utility that someone gave me to batch load pictures. I'll find someone to send it to for testing with 3.2. Next task... Thoughts? koha 3.0.6 soon

Hi, I plan to release a 3.0.6 soon, early next week or the week after. And 3.2 will fix many things we cannot fix with this code base. Nonetheless, I plan to maintain 3.0.x as long as 3.2 is not officially released. You can already see the work in progress on 3.0.x branch of git.koha.org Translators, there are little changes from previous version. That new release would include bug fixes reserve/request.pl and more failsafe for recentacquisitions.pl . But also some enhancement such as the ability to provide a path to xslt stylesheets in sysprefs, a new systempreference to allow librarians of different branches not to see borrowers of other branch. Graphics::Magick on Fedora

FYI The Graphics::Magick perl module is now required for install in the community 3.2 branch hosted by biblibre. Anyone wanting to install that on Fedora will probably need the work around listed in > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=527143 to get it to work. New to Koha

Hi all, my name is Scott and I'm just getting started in the Koha process. I'm not a librarian nor do I have any background in the field. I'm currently testing using one of the configured appliances using version 3.00.01.005. I'll be attempting to convert our existing bibliographic database, which has no standard MARC formatting into a MARC format using MARCEdit....at least that's my plan. Thanks to all the FOSS community on this project so far looks very useful an malleable to our purposes. Scott

Connection failed to z3950.loc.gov

Hi, My librarian is trying to do cataloging via z3950 server - and is getting this error: Connection failed to z3950.loc.gov (it happens with all servers). I searched Google and saw an IRC chat log that suggested trying to telnet into the server. I did that (telnet z3950.loc.gov 7090) and got this: Trying 140.147.249.38... Connected to ilsweb.loc.gov. Escape character is '^]' So it looks like I can get to the server, but I can't do it from within Koha. Has anyone else run into this problem and come up with a solution? Koha - Searching for Lexile Range

Good day all! I'm new to the Koha system - we're using it for our charter high school library. We've only had it installed for about 2 months and I'm now responsible for maintenance and enhancements. In our library, we need the ability for users (high school students) to be able to search for books using a lexile number range. For example: Find all the books that have a lexile number between 100 and 200. I don't see this as an option anywhere in the advanced search so I was going to try and create the option. Here are my questions: 1. Has anyone done this yet? 2. I'm assuming there has to be something in the Zebra indexing system that allows this - being ignorant of Zebra, can anyone assist? Hi, I had problems with rewrite-config.PL with a commercial hosting company where the hostname() gave a wrong answer. I suggest to replace to call to hostname() in rewrite-config.PL with calls to system utilities that a user could use to verify the state of the system. Improving Koha's OPAC Search

I am part of a team of researchers in the Brigham Young University Computer Science department who are interested in improving the searching used by Koha's OPAC interface. Others on the team have come up with a fast and effective way to do searching using folksonomies and we are interested in adding that system to one of the open-source library systems out there. We are considering both Koha and Evergreen for this. We would like to have the Koha communities involvement as much as possible. We would like to either enhance the existing search algorithm of Koha or replace it with our own search. We would like to know if anyone is interested in being involved with this? We would also like to get any pointers on how possible and how difficult this might be for our team to do this, keeping in mind that we are newish to the library specific protocols and formats (MARC, Z39.50, etc). Serials module issues:

Hello all, I'm sending these issues to the lists first to see if anyone has experienced them in the past. I will submit them as bugs if I don't learn that they are the result of a configuration problem. I'm using Koha 3.00.05.001 (3.0.x from git) on Debian Lenny. 1. When setting up a subscription, I set up the following parameters: Under "Serials planning" First issue publication date: "01/18/2010" "1/week" from the "Frequency" drop-down. "Volume, Number" from the "Numbering pattern" drop-down. Starting with Volume "1"; Number "1" Rollover at "52" Subscription start date: "01/18/2010" Subscription length: "Number of issues": "52" I test the Prediction Pattern, which returns: Based on the information entered, the Numbering Pattern will look like this: Vol 1, No 1 Vol 1, No 2 Vol 1, No 3 Vol 1, No 4 Vol 1, No 5 Vol 1, No 6 Vol 1, No 7 Vol 1, No 8 Vol 1, No 9 Vol 1, No 10 Vol 1, No 11 Vol 1, No 12 When I save the subscription, everything works as it should.01/17/2011 is projected as the "End date" If, instead, I enter "01/01/2010" as the "First issue publication date" & "Subscription start date," the "End date" is projected as "12/31/2009." Since the end date is before today and the start date, the issues in the subscription cannot be received and the "End date" cannot be corrected. Everything works fine if I use a frequency other than "1/week" so it seems the bug is related to this frequency type. 2. If I enter all data as in #1, with the exception of: Subscription length: "Number of months": "12" After saving, this field is automatically changed to "Number of issues."
