Perl compatability

The notes on installing koha on Ubuntu states that there may be a problem using a version later than 5.8. I am trying to use Ubuntu 9.1 which has perl 5.10. Does anyone know if this combination will work or will I have to downgrade my perl installation? Thanks J Ellis

Grabbing data from biblioitems.marcxml

Hi all I need to copy some data from the MARC XML field biblioitems.marcxml into another table in Koha. I plan to write a script that calls C4::Record::marcxml2marc($xml_from_biblioitems) and then extract what I need from the returned MARC record. Koha3, loading locale data, contribs and funcionality

Hi, Two years ago we installed Koha 2.7 and have been using it since. We fully translated it into Catalan, as the "official" translation was just half-baked, and we added some new functionalities into it. One of this new funcionalities that added was that we programmed some new OPAC and Intranet screens to allow users select "Automatic notification for new biblios in the user topics of interest". Thus, the library patrons can fill-in an email address (which defaults to the informed one if it is in place), one or more topics of interest and a periodicity (daily /weekly...). Then a ".pl" cron job checks for new biblios matching each of the users selected topics and sends the notification messages where necessary. Now we are considering a migration to version 3, and we have installed it in a spare machine, but we have some doubts about it... Does version 3 (or any soon-to-be-stable version) have a functionality like the one we implemented? If such this functionality is not available, Is there a way to contribute our code as an addon to Koha or similar? Another question is that While installing this Koha3 I couldn't find whether it is included a way to load translated data into the datababase (e.g. userflags descriptions, system prefs descriptions, etc...) for the selected locale. Back in version 2.7 we exported tables to "csv" and then imported (replaced) the values once they were translated by our translator. Is there a method to load localized data in version 3, and if so, where is this data? Many thanks and regards, Toni

New Koha Offline Circulation tool

Hello All, I would just like to announce that I've rewritten my Offline Circ program from the ground up. This version is written in C++/Qt4. The benefit over the previous version is improved stability, no need to install other components ( i.e. Gnope ), and it looks a bit nicer as well. It outputs the same .koc format the previous version does. If you want to use the borrower search feature, it requires a borrowers.db file in the SQLite3 format, rather than SQLite2 which the older version used. I've submitted a patch for the create_koc_db.pl script to add support for both versions. http://millruntech.com/koha/koha-tools/koha-offline-circulation Please check it out and let me know what you think. installed the 3.0.2 version , appears without CSS style sheet

Hello Friends I write from Bolivia, I have installed the 3.0.2 version of Koha, and I have the following problem. The first you see when I install everything works fine and Spanish, and when my machine reboot KOHA change the interface switches to English and appears without CSS style sheet. Install Ubuntu. Zebra crashes

Hi all, I did already mail to the zebra list, but does anyone of you have experience with zebrasrv segfaulting? Like this: Jan 14 10:11:43 localhost kernel: zebrasrv[32625]: segfault at 88 ip 0000003d45a0e37c sp 00007fffa7cca610 error 4 in libyaz_server.so.3.0.0[3d45a00000+11000] Versions are: Zebra 2.0.37 and YAZ 3.0.34 If so, did upgrading to higher versions of Zebra and/or YAZ resolve your problem? zebra for new item types

FYI: Also posted to koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz. Hello all, I added three new item types and imported records from those item types. Only records with the existing "BK" item type are showing up in a search. I didn't get any errors during indexing. I wonder if it's necessary to configure zebra so it sees the new item types? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've been looking at this page in the manual, but it doesn't reference which configuration files to edit: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.0/searching/guide-to-searching/index… In addition, I imported 215,000 BK, but the following search: cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&op=and&idx=kw&op=and&idx=kw&limit=mc-itype%3ABK&sort_by=relevance&do=Search only returns 135,906 results. I haven't yet determined the common properties (if any) of the 79,000 missing records.
