Hello all, I am a student intern assisting with the evaluation of Koha for the Rolling Hills Consolidated Library. We are attempting to export some records from the current ILS (Sirsi) into Koha for testing. Using the MARC record import tool in Koha we are able to import records, but no items. I wrote a Perl script (I am new to Perl) that modified the MARC record to include the 952 fields that Koha uses (the current ILS uses 999 for item information). Importing these modified MARC records using the same method will import the record and the item, but will not make the item available ( it says "No physical items for this record"). Have I missed something in the MARC record or should I be using a different method. I have heard of others that wrote scripts that add the item information directly into the databases. Is that the method I should pursue or should I continue with the modification of the MARC record? formatting currencies (RFC for 3.2 ?)

Hi, Unless i've missed something, there is nothing in Koha atm to format currencies. The currency place differs (USD10 in the US, 10€ in France), as well as the number of digits after the comma (2 in France, probably 0 in Zimbabwe...) so, 2 ideas : - use a package like Data::Currency. Not sure it's what we need - add some sysprefs to define : display currency (EUR), some printf schema (### ###,##CUR in France). This being managed by some C4/Currencies.pm functions. Ubuntu 8.04 and rebuild_zebra script

I just updated a couple of our test servers from Ubuntu 7.10 to Ubuntu 8.04. When I went to run the rebuild_zebra.pl I got the following error message (multiple times). Mon Jul 21 15:27:15 2008] rebuild_zebra.pl: Cannot decode string with wide characters at /usr/lib/perl/5.8/Encode.pm line 166. This is a new one for me. Any ideas? Installation Instructions

Has anyone written up instructions for installing the RC version of Koha 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04. Looking through the archives I have noticed there seems to be varying degrees of success in installing on this distribution. With the stable release not too far away, is this something that should be addressed? Any idea how much more time is needed? The last reference I saw mentioned the 7th of July. I will be trying an installation later in the week, all things going to plan, and the powers that be giving me some time to actually complete the task. If someone has instructions I would appreciate either a copy or a link, if nothing else it may speed up the process for me, else I will document my attempts in the hope that it helps. RFC 3.2: Description translation

Hi all, The basic idea of this RFC is to add a translation mechanism for MARC field, MARC subfield and System Preference's descriptions. The mechanism would dynamically retrieve the description from a map structure based on the user's currently selected language, which is not possible at the moment since those descriptions are located in the database. July 16th git errors

I was reading the threads today and a couple of these may have been resolved, but needed to check what I need to do in order to fix them. I will download the git again tonight to see if they are resolved. When I ran Makefile.PL - I received the following warnings - July 16th at about 11 pm Central time. *Warning prerequisite Algorithm::CheckDigits 0.5 not found. We have unknown version. *Warning prerequisite Image::Magick 6.2 not found *Warning prerequisite MIME::Lite 3 not found >From what I have read today the MIME lite may have been resolved. Just checking on the other 2 items and what I have missed in my git updates... Sorry if this was documented and I missed it in the many releases. Bug in "undo import" in Tools - MARC Import (managing batches)

Hi to all, I have found a bug in the "undo import" function avible in Tools - MARC Import (managing batches). I'm working in a NoZebra setup and I think it is relevant. I don't find this bug in http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/index.cgi OS: Linux Debian etch Version of Koha: last git version MySQL: 5.0 Apache: 2.0 If Import a record into the official catalogue and after I delete the imported record with the function "undo import", the record is deleted from the db but in the indexes the pointers to the records are still present. So, if I do a search with a keyword of the deleted record I see this error: <div class="error"> <h4>Error:</h4> Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /var/donw/kohaclone/kohaclone2/C4/Search.pm line 2078. </div> If I lanch the script ../misc/migration_tools/rebuild_nozebra.pl, the problem is over. I don't know if it is blocking bug, only librarian works with batch imports. I suggest to comment the function "undo import" and to re-insert it into 3.2 with a delete also on indexes, with attention on Zebra and NoZebra setup. Now Koha reports no warning with regard to missing perl modules but reports an error when I run perl Makefile.PL (the details given below) - ----------------------------------------------------- Checking if your kit is complete... In fact my suggestion is only about the file install.debian Reading the paragraph 1.6 the user undesrstood: "With this command on CPAN I have installed all perl modules that I need". But it is not true, The check on all modules is done on paragraph 3 I think is difficult to mantain different install files and be exact on this particular topic. So i suggest those changes in install.debian: 1.6 Install basic Perl dependencies that aren't packaged into Debian Etch sources Run the following command: [snip CPAN install command] and in paragraph 3 the installer check *all* of the perl modules here and explain that any missing ones can be gotten from CPAN So we can write in paragraph 3: 3.
