koha-3.00.00 make fails

Hi all, I have downloaded http://download.koha.org/koha-3.00.00.tar.gz and began installing it on Debian/etch (in a Linux vserver environment). 0. FINE: cd koha-3.00.00 1. FINE: perl Makefile.PL 2. FAIL: make : : : Manifying blib/man3/C4::UploadedFile.3pm Manifying blib/man3/C4::BackgroundJob.3pm Manifying blib/man3/opac::opac-dictionary.3pm Manifying blib/man3/serials::member-search.3pm /usr/bin/perl "-Iblib/arch" "-Iblib/lib" fix-perl-path.PL blib /usr/bin/perl "-Iblib/arch" "-Iblib/lib" rewrite-config.PL blib/KOHA_CONF_DIR/koha-conf.xml Bad arg length for Socket::inet_ntoa, length is 0, should be 4 at rewrite-config.PL line 67. make: *** [blib/KOHA_CONF_DIR/koha-conf.xml] Error 255 Any ideas what went wrong and how to fix? Aside: there were a couple of other problems with this "out of the box" debian based install of Koha 3.0 which had to be fixed along the way, e.g. seven missing perl modules and libgd not found. I get the digest, so i am only able to respond now. I want to report one failure, and an eventual success (using a different route...) The failure: i was unable to deploy Koha to my regular account with a shared hosting service (specifically, hostmonster.com) i don't remember any problems with the make process, however, i had issues with getting the hosting to work...i don't even think i was using virtual hosts, i wanted to first get at least the INTRANET running, but the only thing i could use was changes to .htaccess files, since i don't get access to Apache's config directly. Koha had problems finding the Perl modules, specifically it did not pick up environment variables pointing to their location i was not very smart at that point with different approaches, so after trying for a while, i chose another route... Success: Since i was determined to host on the Internet, i basically decided to get my "own server", essentially a slice (at slicehost.com) They use virtualization and give you a choice of OS, ample bandwidth, and for all practical purposes, its like your own box, where you are root and can do whatever you like. >From then on, it was like a regular Koha install and a few hours later, it was up and running... i've never gone back and analyzed what went wrong with the shared hosting, but i basically faced one problem after another, so that eventually, i just gave up. But, i think, in theory, it should be possible to do with some changes to the install process. Yes, the previous problem was solved, indeed... I do not understand why I have so many problems installing koha,.. maybe the last years I was too used to Joomla! installations :D So the challenging koha that its concept I so much admire and embrace makes me face another problem. Holds queue report

Now that we're up and running on 3.0, we're discovering some aspects of the Holds Queue report that are not working for us: 1. Title. The list displays the title (245a) and only the title. No subtitle, no name of part/section of a work (245p), no number of part/section of a work (245n). This makes it impossible to pull some items based only on what's in the report (picture being in the stacks with a printed copy, wishing you could click through for more info). In our [custom-built] 2.x report we had barcodes, at least. 2. Damaged items. The holds queue report includes items which have been marked as damaged. I would think that if the holds queue process found a bib record with more than one available item that it should only list available items which are not marked as damaged--perhaps based on the "AllowHoldsOnDamagedItems" preference? 3. Freshness. I realize the process for building the Holds Queue report must be intensive or it wouldn't rely on a cron job. But what about a process for taking the processed and stored Holds Queue report and filtering it based on more current availability information? The display of the report could include a pass to check for current status so that even if the Holds Queue report hadn't regenerated for an hour, it would still hide items on the list which had been made waiting or lost. Hi Savitra I know nothing of defining a new zebra-index etc, but... have you started debugging your zebra problem using 'yaz-client' first? that way, you eliminate Koha as being a possible cause of your problem (which i suspect it is too ;) ) Mason

Staging of import stalls

Good Morning All I am trying stage my MARC import data but it keeps stalling. I broke it down into 4 individual files of about 4000 records each. But it still stalls at about 15%. Has anyone had this issue? Can it be done from the terminal instead of through the browser? Every time I start the process it pins my cpu at 95 to 100% which is why it is probably stalling but not sure why. My Config ---------------------------------- Ubuntu 8.1 1.5gb memory Pentium 4 - 2.5ghz dual core Koha 3.0 NoZebra Basic LAMP install Any thoughts would be great. Thanks Ed Edward J. Authority in Koha 3 (English - Unimarc - NoZebra)

Hi to all, I have found a but into installer data for Unimarc / English language. I'm using a NoZebra setting and I think this option is importan for this bug. The setup of Authority is based on the file installer/data/mysql/en/marcflavour/unimarc/mandatory/authorities_normal_unimarc.sql But this definition gives problems, see my e-mail "Problems on working with authority" in koha general list, 05 Jun 2008 09:14. A correct defintion is the frence definition. Probably the main problem is to insert authtypecode = '' into all records of tables auth_tag_structure and auth_subfield_structure. I think that the frence defintion could be good also for English Unimarc definition. My authority defintion (a transaltion of franch definition into english) is attached to this mail. Errors trying to import records from Z39.50

I have Koha 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04.1 While manual cataloguing works okay as well as importing MARC records from a file, we are unable to import "good" MARC records from Z39.50 servers 1) We can't import MARC records from a Z39.50 search. For e.g., i just search for "Great Expectations" from Library of Congress and attempt to import, and i get the error below. This error occurs for pretty much any book. Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't call method "add_subfields" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 141. Using date functions in report SQL

Does anyone have some examples of using date functions like currdate() and month() in report SQL statements? Is this possible in Koha reports?
