Getting Koha 19.11 web installer when installing Koha 20.11.19

However after the installation when calling the web installer it annoyingly greets me saying "Welcome to the Koha 19.11 web installer"! Can someone please explain what is going wrong here? String patch needing review to clean a lot the translations

Hi :) It's Bug 30733 - Simplify translatable strings https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=30733 The sooner this can be merged, the more work it will spare for translators that are currently working on 22.05 because it's still early enough to be backportable. We have an opportunity to clean a lot of the strings that are an absolute pain to translate. The long ones with tons of %s %s %s %s %s part of which must be retranslated over and over each version when one thing has changed. They can be fixed with the same simple method as Bug 29602 - We must be nicer with translators That is adding <span> tags around the strings to have nice broken down approach. So if anyone can take a look at 30733 even for a partial review of the code that would be awesome. Because this patch would be a huge help for translators as it gets rid of most of the terrible to translate strings. Cheers, -- Victor Grousset/tuxayo

Problem in creating new authority types

Dear All, I am trying to create new authority types in KOHA 21.11 on Ubuntu 20.04. I am following this documentation Create new authority type - Koha Wiki ( https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Create_new_authority_type ) In the section on Zebra, * I cannot understand how the att numbers are defined * I cannot follow the next two steps, which require record.abs file. I cannot find the file. Neither the one in biblios nor in authorities folder. I need to create two authorities, namely, publisher and place of publication to accommodate my existing data which I will be migrating to KOHA. User-defined variables in MySQL

Hi all, In the Koha SQL Library we talk about "Runtime Variables" which are MySQL "User-defined Variables": https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library#Runtime_Variables Well today I noticed that MySQL might be removing that functionality in the future: "Previous releases of MySQL made it possible to assign a value to a user variable in statements other than SET. This functionality is supported in MySQL 8.0 for backward compatibility but is subject to removal in a future release of MySQL." https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/user-variables.html I didn't see any reference to this in the MariaDB KB and I can't recall how far the two databases have diverged at this point but could be worth keeping in mind: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/user-defined-variables/. Of course, as noted in the Koha wiki, it looks like user-defined variables aren't really needed post 18.05 anyway. Developing/Testing Zebra using Docker

Hi nerds, Ever feel like Zebra is an intimidating black box of mystery? Well, you're certainly not alone. That's how I felt when I first encountered it over 10 years ago. Over the past decade, I've read through the C code and submitted issue reports to Indexdata, but it wasn't until the other day that I decided I'd try hacking on Zebra to try to understand its operation better (especially faceting). I kept notes of my process for developing and testing Zebra and I've posted them to https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Developing_Zebra. Using these straightforward steps you should be able to hack, compile, and run Zebra. (At some stage, I might actually provide a Dockerfile or Docker image that is even more convenient.) When looking at faceting, I wasn't able to solve the problem, but I was able to isolate the problematic function by hacking on Zebra, and now I'm waiting to hear back from Indexdata for advice. So I think it was a useful exercise. I think Tomas has already hacked on Zebra, so he probably doesn't need this, but I thought it might be interesting for people to review and try if they were interested. Automatic graceful reloading of Koha after plugin install/upgrade

Hi all, How good would it be to have automatic graceful reloading of Koha after plugin install/upgrade? Andreas Jonsson suggested it at https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=21366#c8 and it looks like it's easily doable using a SIGHUP as a web user. (Admittedly, I've just sent the SIGUP as the relevant CLI user, but it should be fine as a web user as well.) Having to manually restart Koha after a plugin install/upgrade is rather annoying and even impossible for some libraries, so it seems like this would be a big improvement. Thoughts? CSS on OPAC not Bootstrap CSS?
