HI all, I have a tini tiny request. As I work on the manual and you guys do your jobs I end up having out of data documentation almost immediately. I'm subscribed to the GIT RSS so if you could try to make an effort to include notes that would help me find what I have to edit in my manual when you submit patches, that would be great. Alternative Holds Targeting Workflow

Hi folks, Just a heads up that I've just added a new table, cron utility, and report that is a temporary solution to a much needed holds targeting workflow for the larger Koha libraries. I've documented it in my commit message which I'll reproduce here: This patch adds a cron script to be run periodically that populates the tmp_holdsqueue table. This is an alternative holds targeting workflow that is more suitable for multi-location libraries than the default holds picklist report. Note to documentation writers: this summary should be added to any holds documentation as an overview of the available methods for holds fulfillment. This alternative holds workflow assumes an expectation that the system should target a specific available item at one location for a given hold request, attempt to fulfill the hold with that item, and if unable to fulfill, select an available item at another location to fulfill the hold. This is quite different than the default Koha workflow assumption, which is that holds are 'broadcast' to all locations and the first to retrieve it is used to fulfill the hold. How it works: This script weights available items at locations for holds based on options specified in two system preferences: StaticHoldsQueueWeight Allows the library to specify a list of library location codes -- if used alone, it will rank the list statically, selecting the top-ranking, left-most available location to be added to the picklist. RandomizeHoldsQueueWeight If RandomizeHoldsQueueWeight and StaticHoldsQueueWeight are set, the list of library codes in the StaticHoldsQueueWeight syspref are randomized rather than statically ranked. If RandomizeHoldsQueueWeight alone is set, the list of all available library codes is used to randomize the weight. If neither syspref is set, the list is statically ranked according to how they are pulled out of the system database. Patron card label generator broken

Oops forgot the most important bit!! I'm running 3.00.00.085 with Perl 5.008008. a problem with configuration of git ?

Hi to all, from last 3 april 2008 I have a local copy of last version using git. I have done: git clone git://git.koha.org/home/pub/scm/koha.git kohaclone then every day: cd ../kohaclone git pull and I have received the updates. Question about Duplicating Cataloging Fields

Hi all, I submitted a bug report: http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2123 but I want to check with all of you to see what you expect the functionality of the plus sign in the cataloging module to be. Here's what my bug says: "If I hit a plus on a field with a value in it it creates a dup of that field - I just want a blank field .. in particular when I hit a plus next to an authorized value because there is no way to erase the data and start fresh - I have to replace it with another authorized value." Basically, I wanted to add another subject heading to a MARC record I was editing but when I hit the plus it duplicated the field and I wasn't able to alter the data in the field without picking another authorized subject heading - what if I didn't have an authorized heading for that field? For this reason I suggest that the field be blank when hitting a plus - or that we have the option of either duplicating or creating a blank new field. -- Nicole C. Can anyone please comment on the following user questions? 1.. Can overdue notices be processed in batches? 2.. Can overdue notices be sent by email? 3.. Is there any SMS option for overdue notices 4.. Can templates be created for overdue notices, so that just the person's name and details of the books and due dates are added automatically by the system 5.. Would it be possible to order directly from Amazon through Koha - online?

git stats

Hello, I sometimes look at git.koha.org/gitstat/, it's a really usefull & great tool. The only thing I find strange is : http://git.koha.org/gitstat/chart.php, options "xxx (Koha release)". In the list, appears 22 very old CVS tags, and not the koha 3.0 alpha or beta (or master) branches. Is there a way to setup something to have them? How do I disable PazPar2 in Koha 3 Beta 2?

Hi, Like I mentioned here before (in other posts), I have Koha 3 Beta 2 installed in a (Xen) Virtual Machine, running Linux (openSUSE 10.3), with Apache 2.2.4 and MySQL 5.0.45. I have tried to set up Koha to use UNIMARC, Zebra and PazPar2. I added a few document records to the catalog, but my searches in the "OPAC" (and in the "Intranet") always come back empty, although the records are being inserted in the MySQL Database (at least, they appear in the "biblio" table). I'm thinking that this may be due to having answered "yes" to the "Install the PazPar2 configuration files? [no]" question during Koha installation (at a time when I did NOT have installed PazPar2 from the IndexData web site) . So, I would like to know this: is there a (preferrably clean and easy) way of *disabling* PazPar2 *after* having done the Koha installation? I have searched for "pazpar2" in the "System Preferences" administration page at http://hostname:8080/cgi-bin/koha/admin/systempreferences.pl but it comes back empty. RFC: add optional HTTP status argument to output_html_with_http_headers

Hi, The bibliographic details scripts can redirect to errors/404.pl if the requested bib is not found. However, when called like this (as opposed to via ErrorDocument), 404.pl actually returns HTTP status 200. Since users may want to permalink to bibs via /cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=FOO, having 404.pl actually return a 404 status code would help link checkers. Consequently, I propose to modify C4::Output::output_html_with_http_headers to accept an optional fourth parameter, the HTTP status code and text. For example: output_html_with_http_headers $query, $cookie, $template->output, "404"; or output_html_with_http_headers $query, $cookie, $template->output, "404 Bibliographic record not found"; Any thoughts or objections to this?
