hi everyone is there currently a perltidy/formatting policy for koha? i cant find any info on the web, except this page http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=en:development:tools&s=perltidy what is everyones opinion about using a standardised perltidy style on Koha commits? what perltidy style shall we standardise on?, any ideas? is there any reason not to use perltidy before committing? at Katipo we have been simply been using the default style Joshua mentioned that the french team had been playing with some different perltidy styles does anyone have any prefered options? FYI: i have recently discovered 'perltidy -sob foo.pl', which seems to chomp up (and add) extra blanks lines between code too, this option would be helpful for having consistent line spacing too i have found using perltidy helps alot to reduce false 'cvs diff' lines any ideas?? -- Mason James Katipo Communications www.katipo.co.nz +64 4 934 1285

Zebra Daemonization Techniques

Hi all, This is a note mainly for those of you running Zebra. How are you handling daemonization of the server? Do you manage it with init scripts? I know there are a few options, I just wanted to find out what y'all are doing and get copies of the scripts, etc., then figure out what the best 'official' route should be. So if you have a moment, send me your daemonization scripts, etc., and I'll compile, and report back. web installer committed

Web installer is committed in installer directory. I would have rather use install dir. But I couldnot (I don't know why). The commit concerns : + Adding a script to list ALL modules used in Koha Scripts and provide user with a list of the scripts using these modules. + kohastructure.sql is the structure of my database for koha3.0 (could be used as a ground before update.) + list of language as ISO-639-2 + Adding a new InstallAuth.pm which should only be used for install. Since I could not suppose that there was a database, this authentication could not match with a borrower. It still relies on cookies but Only super superlibrarian (the one described in koha.xml) can acheive this. + Adding Web Installer 3 steps : step 1: checking database exists and access (table creation insert....) Step 2: checking database structure and updating database if need be. Step 3: importing datasets which are supposed to be in misc/sql-datas/<language>/<level> where <language> is international abbreviation of a language. and <level> is to qualify the criticity of the import : required : necessary for Koha to work. recommended : very helpful. additionals : would be to "ease the pain" in configuring Koha. each <level> directory contains a list of sql files which have meaningful names. and the same list txt files which contains a little description in the <language> to explain what sql file is aimed at. This can be VERY helpfull if we put there some normalised data such as position authorised values, code5 authorised value, frameworks, language authorised value list, CDU or CDD description, depending on which one is "free"... We still can go further : - We could allow people to get only subsets of international normalised set of datas. - this installer doesnot help people in creating their zebra configuration files. But this would be a BIG tricky part. There is on refresh on a selection list change. MJ Ray told me not to do it but I can't figure out how to do otherwise. frameworks could be XML files containing descriptions for zebra, output(s) format, input wizard or type, tabs, default values + eventually some correspondances. There is still some "pretty"fication work to use css classes. But this is the spirit. -- Henri-Damien LAURENT

Problems committing

Anyone can tell me what I can do about it ? cvs [commit aborted]: cannot make directory `/cvsroot/koha/koha/install/Attic': No such file or directory And my commit on installer doesnot work. Was there an install directory once ? Is there something I can do about it ? I will try and commit a new directory. But I find it quite weird. -- Henri-Damien LAURENT

(big) security hole...

Hello world, Kyle has found (without searching) a big security hole in fine management. Koha checks that a user can access a page when calling get_template_and_user sub. That's why this sub should always be at the beginning of every page. right, BUT : on pay.pl, we record the payement before checking the template & user permission. wow... big bug for libraries that uses fines, as anyone that can access librarian interface can "pay" fines in koha without problem... This bug should affect every version I'm afraid (2.2, dev_week, tumer, rel_3_0) I'll fix 2.2 & rel_3_0 asap (toins 1st job on monday probably ;-) ). rel_2_2 commits & status [IMPORTANT]

Yesterday, during our IRC meeting, we spoke of the rel_2_2 status. We decided to go with 2 versions : - 2.2.7.1, that can be released soon. slef should branch it on CVS & backport bugfixes. - 2.2.8, that will be released a little bit after. Looking for the last 68 commits this morning, I saw that something is really wrong on CVS (rel_2_2) : - one commit is so buggy that a .pm don't even compile, causing an Internal Server Error on opac-main.pl !!! - a heavy dependancy has been added, Date::Time. it comes from a copy/paste of HEAD, with lot of subs in Date.pm that are useless. If you look at rel_3_0, you'll see that Date.pm use Date::Calc. It's really easier to install, is fast & works fine. - a SQL table has been added, through a .sql. The good way to do this is use updater/updatedatabase script, that will take care of everything when the release is done. As a conclusion : - I URGE you to always check when you commit that what you commit compiles. And in a stable branch, you MUST check that there is not unstability added.
