Hi everyone, I just installed Pre2 and I have an authentication question. We would like to set up users with different privileges and defaults, but I can't seem to see how to arrange that. The apache security uses a username that I specified on install...is there some way to log in as a different user? Can I add users? I see where flags can be modified on borrowers but I can't see any way to log in as a borrower. Joshua

koha 2.0pre meetings

A very small koha prerelease meeting took place Wednesday at 1900 UTC on irc.katipo.co.nz #koha We took a quick look at this week's four new bugs: http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=553 is a report about the known problems with koha's HTML quality. It sparked a discussion about what we should be aiming for, with some background on why we're where we are and where people want to get to. There are some people creating "clean" templates, but they won't work for everyone yet. http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=554 needs a MARC person and we didn't have any alive at the time. http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=555 is a template bug, but needs an HTML::Template coder to comment. http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=556 looks like an uncaught return condition to me, but what do I know? If you have a bugzilla account and can help with any of these, please add to them in the normal way. If you can help, but have no account, please get one! ;-) Currently, there are just over 50 open bugs needing resolutions and 300 fixed bugs needing verification. We had a very short discussion on how long bug reporters should get before verified fixed bugs should be closed. I closed some after 15 days, which was thought to be OK. There was some other small talk, but I don't have the logs around to remind me what was said. If it was important, hopefully someone will post it. The IRC logger is currently dead, as far as I know. I quite like that, even if it does sometimes trip me up. If you can make it at 1900 UTC next Wednesday, please do. etcdir & environment variables

Three questions: 1.) how does one set up etcdir and environment variables? (since I will not be setting the system up as root)? 2.) I think this is a case where the doc lags behind the release (one of the reasons we're doing a pre-release). a recent copy of the doc says: To install Koha without access to superuser/root/sysadmin level privileges, ask your system administrator to arrange for a user called opac and then set the user in the OPAC virtual host. This will permit all of the cgi scripts to be executed as 'user' opac. The Virtualhost then may suexec to the user installing Koha, and koha.conf can then be written by that user, avoiding the need for the chown command, which is restricted to a superuser. Reports engine

Hi everybody, I've been thinking of coding a reports engine for a few days, but i'm sure i'm not the only one to have ideas about that, so i'd like to know what you think about it, and if something has already been done. i see it as a user-friendly interface, which would be used to edit the configuration files of the rssKoha package. I think using rssKoha is a good point because it let us format the reports the way we want, using a XSLT stylesheet. So, if you"re interested or if you have already work on something like that, i'd be glad to hear from you. /pierre

Not only does it move that HTML into the template where it belongs, it gives template authors the option of treating that list as something other than a drop-down menu (like radio buttons, for instance). I hope this method can become the preferred one. -- Owen

New to list and looking for info onSME/Mitel/E-smith and Koha

Hi, I'm new to to the list (finally)....I'm a technology coordinator in Maine, USA and have been using E-Smith/, K12LTSP, and so forth extensively in my school for a couple years now. I'm really interested in getting Koha running, but want to keep the installation as simple as possible....I saw in the archives that some work has been done with releasing an RPM for installing on SME/Mitel/E-Smith.....can anyone point me to these files or let me know what the status of it is? Branches and opac reserve template

I notice that in the default template opac-reserves.tmpl has this code: Please select the branch from which you want to collect the item: <TMPL_VAR NAME="CGIbranch"> ...which produces an html select list. On the other hand, the vanilla template has this code: <TMPL_LOOP NAME="BRANCHES"> <td VALIGN="TOP"><INPUT TYPE="radio" name="branch" value='<TMPL_VAR NAME="branchcode">' class="checkbox"></td> <td VALIGN="TOP"><TMPL_VAR NAME="branchname"></TD> </TMPL_LOOP> ...which is nice in that in using the loop it give template-writers the flexibility to choose their input method. Unfortunately, the latter code snippet doesn't work! It doesn't produce anything, so I guess the 'BRANCHES' array hasn't been populated. Is the template expecting a different version of opac-reserves.pl? I notice that the HLT site has other options as well, like being able to choose acceptable formats. What's the story? Call to missing acquisitions.pm module

Hi all, In testing V2.0.0pre2 on windows against a set of almost blank data, we are hitting either a bug or a missing file. I tried to see if anything was listed on this in bugzilla, but did not come up with a match. We are testing with acquisitions set to simple, marc set to 0 (off), and both opac themes and template set to default english. In Intranet, we do a simple catalog search. We click on a title from the resulting search list. This brings up detail.pl with the item displayed. We click on the barcode which brings up moredetail.pl. Under Group, we click on the Edit button, which brings up modbibitem.pl. At this point, if we edit and then click to save changes, we get a server error because updatebibitem.pl is accessed and it trys to use acquisitions.pm which doesn't exist in the V2.0.0pre2 set of files. Bottom line is updatebibitem.pl contains: use C4::Acquisitions and there is no acquisitions.pm module to be found. Is this a relic leftover from V1.2 or a missing file or a bug? With all the emphasis on MARC, have the non-MARC modules not been updated? What settings are recommended for manual entry of a small database that does not use MARC. Thanks, Rob
