I see that the 'textmessaging' field lin the borrowers table is now being used to store personal messages which will appear in the OPAC when a user logs in. This is new, right? Use it on a production machine only if you know what you are doing WARNING : * This version is ONLY available in ENGLISH. biblio frameworks are only available in UNIMARC - french. * This version is tested only with mozilla. Should work (partially) with IE. * Any 2.1.0 install must be uninstalled before installing 2.1.3 No update is provided for 2.1.0. INSTALLATION * Download the package * tar xvfz koha-version.tar.gz * cd koha-version * ./installer.pl * Follow the instructions UPGRADE from previous 2.0.0preX or RCx version * Download the package * tar xvfz koha-version.tar.gz * cd koha-version * ./koha.upgrade * Follow the instructions UPGRADE from previous 1.2.x version : UPGRADE TO A 2.0.0 version before upgrading to 2.1.3 This will be mandatory for the 2.2 official release. Then enter, for example : $a 23 $b Hachette Litterature $c collection1|collection2|collection3 map your "editor" field to plugin 210c, your "collection" field to plugin 225a Once you arrive on the editor field, if the beginning of the ISBN exists, the editor is automatically found. Once you arrive on collection field, click on ... you can choose in the collection list. The 210c / 225a comes from the UNIMARC editor/collection field, but should work as well with MARC21. =========== WHAT'S NEXT =========== This version is quite stable. Problem with Bulk Import for Koha 1.23

Hi Chris et al A problem today with bulk importing into 1.23 which I thought you might have a soloution to... ---- koha 123 when I bulk import I get one item count The script does not go into the full record ie it only picks up the first 852 locqal holding tag if I run make a mark record and keep running the the bulimport all the 852 are picked up in other words if I have 5 copies I need to run bulkimport 5 times the first will be seen but the other 4 update to where the number of copies should be the error is a skipping error line 508 in bulkimport -- I'm assuming we must have had to deal with this before? OR have we not used bulkimport when there are multiple copies? wiki spam attack

I've just despammed a load of pages in the wiki. iprism.cox-sd.net was the attacking hostname. Search and report discrepancies

I'm poking around a newly updated-from-CVS installation of Koha 2.2, and I tried the 'View catalogue group by itemtypes' report. It listed 481 items with the category 'Juvenile fiction' at my branch. Then I went to search the catalogue in the Intranet and specified only item type 'Juvenile fiction' and branch 'Chauncey' with no other search terms and the result count was 490. Shouldn't these numbers be the same? Some of the item types that showed up in the report didn't even return any results from a search, so it's obviously not just overcounting. Why the difference? -- Owen P.S. I was comparing the searches because I thought it would be nice to link directly from the report to a search by each item type so people viewing the report could then jump to a catalogue listing of those items.

I doubt Tidy would be able to pick apart a complex template like circulation.tmpl. I don't have any experience configuring Tidy, though. -- Owen

Thoughts on documentation -- please feedback

Hello, all - I have been looking more closely at formats for the Koha documentation, and I like the Simplified DocBook DTD for our XML sources (http://www.docbook.org/xml/simple) It seems to me that the sdocbook.dtd has all the elements we are likely to need for the component documents people write about Koha. An example of an XML source tree that uses the DocBook XML DTD is the Linux Documentation Project's template for authors (http://www.tldp.org/authors/template/Sample-HOWTO.xml) I think this might also make a good template for the individual Koha documentation components. I also looked through the DocBook wiki section on XML tools (http://wiki.docbook.org/topic/DocBookAuthoringTools) and looked a little at XXE Standard Edition from xmlmind.com. It's not open source, but it doesn't cost anything. I may download it and try it out. Has anyone used XXE SE? Anyone have any thoughts about the sdocbook.dtd or the LDP template? Koha & UNICODE

Hi, i'm "speaking" with a french library that is highly interested by Koha, but needs absolutely UNICODE support. They ask me what wil it "cost" to add unicode support. They may involve a developper to add this, (or maybe fund). Does anyone have an opinion on this ? Do we have to use utf16 or is utf8 possible ? For me, it means : * rewrite all templates in utf * parse all perl scripts for unicode support (what does it means exactly ? i'm not sure. chapter 15 of Perl Programming is not enough for me) * dump non utf DB & reload it in utf (specifis pragmas in mySQL) * other things ?
